    Bijuu and Jinchuuriki

    In the anime and manga series, Naruto, there exist tailed demons with an unimaginable amount of chakra called Bijuu. .Their are a total of nine demons that exist scattered throughout the Naruto world. Each Bijuu has a different number of tail, starting with Shukaku, the one-tailed demon going all the way up to the nine-tailed demon, Kyuubi. While only two of them have been revealed to us it has been stated in the manga that Akatsuki currently holds four of the nine demons. They have captured Gaara and extracted the power of Shukaku from him, and hold Yugito, the Jinchuuriki of the two-tailed demon cat. It is yet unknown what the other Bijuu are exactly. 

    Other than the Three-tailed demon turtle, the rest of the Bijuu that have been revealed to us are based on creatures from Japanese mythology, so it is speculated that the rest of them will be from there as well. 

    A person within whom a Bijuu has been sealed at birth is called a Jinchuuriki, and grows up to exhibit extraordinary chakra. According to Akatsuki members, the Jinchuuriki are typically lonely people who hate humanity. This is probably because everyone is afraid of the Jinchuuriki and either run away upon seeing them or try and kill them (the same way people of the Hidden Sand Village treated Gaara). Before Gaara, when Akatsuki captured the two Jinchuuriki villages no one from their villages seemed to care, and in fact were thankful to be rid of them.

    The known Bijuu and Jinchuuriki that we have seen are below.

    Gaara Shukaku, the One-Tailed Demon Racoon-Dog, in Gaara
    Sasori's grandmother, Chiyo, had the demon Shukaku sealed into Gaara.. Shukaku comes out when Gaara goes to sleep.Shukaku the One-Tailed Demon Racoon-Dog As soon as Gaara awakens, however, the Shukaku disappears. This was first seen in the battle Gaara had with Naruto when Naruto was trying to protect Sakura from being killed. The powers Shukaku gives Gaara are the ability to move and levitate sand at will, as well as the ability to be protected at all times by the sand, regardless of his will (even self-inflicted injuries are prevented by the sand). He suffers from a side effect of lifelong insomnia and the black circles around his eyes show that.

    Later on in Naruto (this has only been shown in the manga thus far) Gaara was defeated in battle by Akatsuki member Deidara and Akatsuki removed the Shukaku demon from Gaara leading to Gaara's death. Luckily for Gaara, he was later on to be revived by Sasori's grandmother who gave her own life energy and sacrificed her life for the sake of Gaara's.

    Yugito Nibi, the Two-Tailed Demon Cat, in Yugito
    Nibi is seen to be a two-tailed, flaming cat in the Naruto manga (It  has not appeared in the anime yet). Other than the ability to breathe fire, we are unsure ofNibi the Two-Tailed Cat what kind of powers the Demon Cat possess.  Yugito is a female Jinchuuriki. She was first seen in chapter 313 of the manga, and is a ninja from the Hidden Cloud Village. She refers to herself as the second strongest ninja of the village. 

    Despite transforming into the Demon Cat's true form, she is quickly and easily beaten by akatsuki members Hidan and Kakuzu. At the end we see her pinned to a wall by a kunai through her hands. Later on Akatsuki member Zetsu arrives to take her off their hands, and Akatsuki eventually extracts the bijuu out.

    No Jinchuuriki Sanbi, the Three-Tailed Demon Turtle
    The Sanbi is first seen in the Naruto Manga, chapter 317. We see Akatsuki members Deidara and Tobi trying to bringNibi the Two-Tailed Cat down the Sanbi, which Tobi says is a turtle. The Sanbi retaliates against the attacks of the members and Tobi runs from it while Deidara molds his explosive clay into a fish then throws it into the water. The clay fish swims close beside the Bijuu before detonating. Deidara and Tobi end up defeating and capturing the Bijuu very easily. Tobi gloats about how he defeated the Sanbi, and Deidara scolds him by saying that he had helped and that Akatsuki members are not supposed to act like that. Deidara adds that Tobi should not be that excited because the Sanbi was weak because it did not have a  Jinchuuriki to control its power.

    Yonbi Yonbi, in an Elderly Man
    The four-tails Jinchuuriki was an elderly man who was first seen in chapter 353 of the Naruto manga. It is unknown where he was from or what animal the bijuu was because Kisame had already defeated him when he was shown in the manga. Although he was seen defeated, Kisame said that he had a difficult time with this Jinchuuuriki because of all the elemental fusions (combining different types of attacks like fire, wind,  and water) that the old man could perform. It is hypothesized that the dark mark seen around this Jinchuuriki's nose and cheeks is an influence of his bijuu (like Naruto's whiskers and the dark circles around Gaara's eyes).

    The Forth Hokage sealed the Kyuubi, the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox, within Naruto after its attack on Konoha twelve years beforeKyuubi the Nine tailed Fox the start of Naruto the series. It is said to be the most powerful of the tailed-beasts because a single swipe of one of its nine tails could raise tsunamis and flatten mountains

    The Kyuubi gives Naruto the ability to heal from wounds at astonishing speeds, as well as give him an immense amount of Chakra. It is also the reason why Naruto has those three lines (or whiskers) on each side of his face. The Kyuubi is activated in times of extreme rage (like when Naruto saw Sasuke take a hit for him and thought that he was going to die) and times of near death (like when Naruto is about to drown after being heavily wounded in the battle between him and Sasuke). As the Nine-Tailed fox is activated, Naruto becomes more and more like the Kyuubi. The Third Hokage and Kakashi Hatake have said that if Naruto loses all control of the Kyuubi's chakra, than the seal which keeps it inside Naruto will break and the Kyuubi will be freed. 

    Fortunatley, this has not happened, so Naruto still has the Kyuubi within him. He has been trained by one of the three legendary Sannin, Jiraiya, so that he could control and call upon the power of the Kyuubi at will.

    Hobbies and Obsessions

    We all have our passions in life - things we love to do without a moments notice. Our friends in the Naruto world also have their own personal passions. Below are some of the most common ones we see in the series.

     

     

    Naruto Uzumaki - Ramen Fan
    Naruto is a huge fan of ramen, a Japanese noodle dish that is served with a variety of toppings, such as beef, pork, shrimp, and vegetables. When Kakashi asked Naruto on the first day they met about his likes and dislikes, all Naruto could talk about was ramen, and how he liked to eat it and compare different types. Ramen has been his motivation many times to complete a task. One instance is when he had to clean the monument of the Hokage faces. Iruka said that he would treat him to ramen after he cleaned them up, and Naruto excitedly replied, "now that's some serious motivation!" Naruto's favorite ramen restaurant is located right in the Hidden Leaf Village, the Ichiraku Ramen Bar, which he claims is the best ramen in the world. If he could, Naruto would eat ramen at Ichiraku Ramen all day, everyday for the rest of his life.

    Sasuke Uchiha - To Annihilate A Certain Someone
    When Sasuke was younger, his brother Itachi had killed everybody in his clan, leaving Sasuke a lonely child. Because of that, Sasuke is obsessed with getting revenge and will go to the ends of the Earth to punish him. Now, nothing would satisfy Sasuke more then to see Itachi go threw the same pain that he had to go threw.

    Kakashi Hatake - Loves to Read
    Kakashi loves to read a book from the best-selling novel series, "Make Out", which are books for adults written by Jiraiya. Kakashi usually reads them while training or talking to Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura, but of coarse this is what he is seen doing during other moments of downtime.

    Rock Lee - Trains out of his Brains
    Rock Lee is an extremely hard worker. He was born with no talent as a ninja, and was considered a looser, but thanks to sheer determination, and the faith from his idol, Might Gai, Rock Lee has become one of the best Taijutsu specialists in the world. In his spare time he all he does is train in hopes to become even better than he is now. In fact, he makes everyday routine activities, such as just walking from point A to B, into training sessions, and will set the bar of work higher than it was before. He'll say something like "If I can't walk on my hands to where I want to go, then I will have to do 1000 sit-ups. And if I can't do 1000 sit-ups, then I will have to do 2000 push-ups!" and will actually do them, even when he knows nobody is watching.

    Chouji Akamichi - Eating Machine
    Chouji's hobby is to buy snacks and then eat them. There is never a place where Chouji will go without his snacks! In his spare time Chouji will be seen snacking on some goodies to excite him! One thing about his hobby is that the last piece of his (or even somebody else's) snack is the most delicious one because it is the last one. He will never let anybody in his sight, take the last chip or piece of steak, for example, and will quickly grab it and savor it before the other person can even lay their hand on it!

    Shino Aburame - Bug Man
    Shino loves to observe bugs. Since he lets bugs live inside of him, its only natural that he would love checking them out as well!

    Might Gai - The Power of Youth
    Gai loves to train. He is the source of Lee's behavior. Gai loves to train and make stupid bets, either with himself, or others. He'll say something like "If I can't walk on my hands around the village 50 times, then I will have to do 1000 sit-ups. And if I can't do 1000 sit-ups, then I will have to do 2000 push-ups!" and will then actually do them, even when he knows nobody is watching. Additionally, he loves to emphasize, to Lee especially, about "The Power of Youth". This means that when your young, you have the ability to do anything if you put your mind and heart into it.

    Tsunade - Gambling Addict
    Tsunade is a compulsive gambler. Whenever she finds an opportunity to gamble, whether it be the slots, a bet, through cards, or something else, she jumps at it. Unfortunately for Tsunade, she has terrible luck. As a result, she has been labeled as "The Legendary Sucker" for the gross profits others have made off her misfortune and gambling addiction. Despite her bad luck, she feels she will eventually catch a winning streak. The back of Tsunade's jacket is a symbolizes her personality, and ultimately her hobby - the Kake Kanji symbol  meaning "gamble".

    Sakura Haruno - Genius with a Sasuke Obsession
    Sakura has two hobbies. First of all, she loves quizzes and memorizing things. She is extraordinarily smart book-wise, and shows her abilities when her teachers put her to the test. Her other hobby is to crush on Sasuke Uchiha. Many of the things Sasuke does or says is interpreted by Sakura as cool or smart. On the first day they met, Kakashi asked Sakura to introduce herself to the team (Team 7) by telling them her likes, hobbies, and future goals. For all three, Sakura looked at Sasuke with a girlish-hope.

    Jiraiya - Big Pervert
    Jiraya loves beautiful women. Specifically, beautiful women revealing themselves in some way. When he's not training Naruto (actually even when he is), Jiraiya peeps at women who are taking a bath or playing around. He claims it to be "research" so that he can write a book for his best selling "Make Out" novel series (the same ones Kakashi loves to read), but in reality he just loves looking (and spending time with) beautiful women. And make no mistake, Jiraiya is absolutely proud of it!

    Ebisu - Closet Pervert
    Like Jiraiya, Ebisu loves to look at beautiful women too! Unlike Jiraiya though, Ebisu is "hush hush" about it. He tries to keep his guilty pleasure a secret, and tries to act like he is above and against looking at gorgeous, and naked women. When nobody is looking though, Ebisu is sure to try and catch himself a view!

    Gaara - The Killer
    Gaara loves to kill. In fact his hobby is his life and, what he feels, part of his reason to exist. If somebody steps in his way, Gaara, without hesitation, will use one of his powerful sand techniques and kill the challenger.
    Note: After Naruto beats Gaara up and teaches him the importance of people, this no longer is his hobby.

    Shikamaru Naara - Lazy Boy
    Shikamaru is an extraordinarily smart guy, but most of the time it seems otherwise. Shikamaru loves to lie down and sleep, or just watch the clouds roll by. In fact, he is the guy with cloud envy! He wishes he could always relax and be trouble-free all the time like the clouds. Shikamaru also loves to play Shogi, a Japanese version of chess. Even though he is sitting down, and for the most part not really doing anything, his intelligence does show here. Chess is a game of wits, and he is a master at the game, always defeating his teacher Asuma.

    Asuma - Smoker
    Asuma is almost always seen with a cigarette in his mouth. It's his hobby. It's been said that he would smoke about two packs of cigarettes a day. The only exception is when something was bothering him.

    Kiba loves to spend time with his dog, Akamaru. Whether it be playing, or fighting it's with his furry friend, Akamaru!

  • Akatsuki

    Akatsuki Information
    Akatsuki (meaning "Dawn," or "Daybreak") is a criminal organization in Naruto. They were first introduced in episode 80 of the Naruto anime and chapter 139 of the Naruto manga when Akatsuki members Itachi and Kisame entered the Hidden Leaf Village in pursuit of Naruto and the the Nine-Tailed Fox within him. Currently, Akatsuki consists of nine elite S-class criminals. The exact criteria for admission to Akatsuki are unknown, but extraordinary fighting ability and deadly ruthlessness seem to be prerequisites as members of Akatsuki have cause death and destruction in their villages in their past.

    Members of Akatsuki wear rings as well as their respective village headbands with a line stuck through the village symbol on. In addition to those they wear a black cloak with red clouds on it and have their nails painted. The significance of the painted nails and cloak are unknown, but it is a belief they are just for fashion. The purpose of the ring is not 100% clear either, but based on the manga it seems they use it to extract demons (called Bijuu) from their host (referred to as a Jinchuuriki). For the village headband, it is believed the line threw the village headband signifies a broken connection between the individual and the village (scroll to the bottom of the page for pictures of the accessories).

    The ultimate goal of Akatsuki is unknown, but most people believe that the organization is called Akatsuki, which means dawn, because they are working for the dawn of a new world order. This may explain their need for powerful demons such as the Nine-tailed fox in Naruto and Shukaku the One-Tailed Tanuki in Gaara.

    Originally From: Hidden Rain Village
    Miscellaneous Information: Paine is the assigned leader of Akatsuki, although he reports to some other being who we do not know about (as seen in chapter 363 of the manga). He was told by Tobi to capture Naruto, and that because he is the leader, he cannot fail. Nothing much is known about him except that he is able to perform high level jutsu, he has the ability to make it rain, and that he has brown-red hair, blue eyes (based on the Shippuuden anime), and that he is originally from the Hidden Rain Village.

    Ring: Shu (Scarlet) on right ring finger
    Originally From: Hidden Leaf Village
    Miscellaneous Information: Killed everyone in his clan except for his little brother Sasuke. Sasuke believes that Itachi felt bad for killing his clan and left him alive so that he could punish Itachi for his misdeeds. In Akatsuki, he is partnered with Kisame and is responsible for catching the 9-tail fox which resides in Naruto.

    Ring: Minami (South) on left ring finger
    Originally From: Hidden Mist Village
    Miscellaneous Information: Kisame is one of the Seven Swordsmen of the Mist, seven powerful ninja who utilize large and unique swords. Zabuza and Raiga were also members. Like everyone seen from the Hidden Mist Village, Kisame uses water element jutsu in combination with his powerful physical attacks. He is partnered with Itachi and they are responsible for catching the 9-tail fox which resides in Naruto.

    Miscellaneous Information: The right side of his face, and likely his body, is black in color while his left side is white in color. He also has the ability to merge the ground, trees, and other plants.

    Miscellaneous Information: This is the only female member of Akatsuki. She has blue hair with a white flower in it and has the ability to search for people using some jutsu where she turns into pieces of paper. In chapter 368 we see this when Paine tells Konan to search for an intruder (which was Jiraiya) who has interrupted his rain.

    Originally From: Unknown
    Miscellaneous Information: Tobi was Zetsu's subordinate. He has a very formal and correct manner of speech and wanted to fill in Sasori's position in Akatsuki after he had died. To his luck he was eventually let in Akatsuki as we see in chapter 317 that Deidara tells him how a member of Akatsuki is supposed to act. In chapter 362 Deidara blew himself up and it was believed Tobi died as well. In chapter 363, however, a surprising turn of events takes place. Tobi is seen giving orders to Pain in chapters 363/364. Afterwards, it was revealed Tobi has the Sharingan, a power he claims he received from an unknown character that goes by the name of Madara Uchiha.

He became an Akatsuki member afterwards, but fled because of his fear of Itachi's power. Upon leaving, he kept his Akatsuki ring, which is currently still on the hand of his original body. The apparent special nature of his ring, his knowledge of their plans, and his fleeing of Akatsuki without informing the leader have led to bad blood between Orochimaru and Akatsuki. He found the Hidden Sound Village and took Sasuke as his subordinate with plans to transfer himself into Sasuke so that he could have the power of the Sharingan. Unfortunately for him, his plan never fully materialized as Sasuke killed Orochimaru before he could lay his hands on him.

They had a fierce battle, and in the end Sasori was killed.

The partnership didn't last long as Deidara blew himself up as his final work of art to try and kill Sasuke.

He believed in the Jashin (wicked heart) religion where killing is encouraged and anything less than that is considered a sin. He put his religon into practice by killing Asuma. Unfortunately for him, Shikamaru could never forgive him for that and killed Hidan using explosive tags.

    Miscellaneous Information: Kakuzu is the tallest member of Akatsuki. He is obsessed about money, and will do anything to get it. He also dislikes Hidan's religion as he believes that the rituals Hidan performs are a waste of time. He gets in frequent arguments with Hidan because they have two distinct personalities - Hidan is a religious type of guy, while Kakuzu is a money man. The only reason Kakuzu puts up with it all because be believes in the end it can bring him money. Kakuzu was heavily wounded by Naruto using the Fuuton Rasenshuriken and then killed by Kakashi.

    Kabuto Kabuto Yakushi
    Kabuto is a spy who was originally working for the Akatsuki member Sasori. Although it's currently unknown where Kabuto's true loyalty lies, he is currently working for Orochimaru. Deidara mentions that one of Sasori's spies has become a traitor. In a recent chapter of the manga, however, it appears that Kabuto is that traitor. At this point though, Kabuto appears loyal to Orochimaru, who had freed him from Sasori's hypnosis. He serves as Orochimaru's top assistant, taking care of him in his weakened state. His complex nature and tendency to do good things such as healing Hinata during the Chunnin exam (when he was disguised as an ANBU) have made him possibly the most mysterious character in the series.

    Yuura served as a trusted member of the Kazekage advisory council of the Hidden Sand Village for four years. In reality, he was a sleeper agent for Akatsuki and a subordinate of Sasori. He was used as a replacement in a shapeshifting jutsu, taking on the shape of Itachi Uchiha to hold off Kakashi, Naruto, Sakura, and Chiyo from entering into Akatsuki's Lair while they extracted the Bijuu out of of Gaara. He was eventually killed by Naruto's Rasengan when in the form of Itachi.

    Chidori was developed by Hatake Kakashi when he was the subordinate of soon to be Yondaime (Fourth) Hokage. The Chidori require a strong and fast thrust of the hand to quick attack the foe. That is why if the user cannot thrust fast enough, the enemy is able to avoid it. Chidori uses up a large amount of chakra. Sasuke's limit is twice a day. When Kakashi was little his limit was 4. It's an attack that make the chakra visible to the eyes. The Chidori is only to be use against an enemy not a comrade. The performer will first perform the correct hand seal (look above) then draw chakra from their hands. It was given the name Raikiri (Lightning Edge) after it was said that Kakashi used the attack to cut through lightning.

First, Naruto have to release a constant amount of chakra from the body out on to his palm. By releasing a certain amount of chakra in a clockwise or counterclockwise motion, the chakra is able to bond with one another (like Hydrogen Bonding). When enough chakra are in circulation, it will form a sphere (circle) like visible to the eye. The next step is to disrupt the flow of the chakra. Instead of flowing in 1 direction, the chakra now flow in 2 direction, opposite of one another. The chakra is able to collide with one another and begin adding pressure to the outer layer. This will give the Rasengan more power and cause more damage to the attack. Mastering the Rasengan is the ability to control and maintain chakra precisely and quickly.
