  Hokages

  

  1st Hokage: Shodaime Name: Unknown Age: Unknown (deceased) Shodaime Hokage, the First Fire Shadow, was one of the founders of the Hidden Leaf Village with his younger brother Nidaime, the Second Hokage. He used earth-based jutsus, which helped to sprout trees from the ground during the creation of the Village. He is also the grandfather of the Fifth Hokage, Tsunade and was a teacher to the Third Hokage, Sarutobi. In addition, a living being named Yamato has had the First's DNA implemented into him. Kakuzu, a former member of Akatsuki, also said that he once fought with the First, but he never revealed any details.

  2nd Hokage: Nidaime Name: Unknown Age: Unknown (deceased) Nidaime Hokage, the Second Fire Shadow,  was one of the founders of the Hidden Leaf Village with his older brother Shodaime, the First Hokage. He used water-based jutsus, and helped give the Leaf Village it's lush green apperence. He is also the granduncle to the Fifth Hokage, Tsunade, and a teacher to the Third Hokage, Sarutobi.

  3rd Hokage: Sandaime Name: Sarutobi Age: 69 (deceased) Sandaime Hokage, the Third Fire Shadow,  was the the student of the First and Second Hokage and a teacher to the three Legendary Sannin - Orochimaru, Jiraiya, and Tsunade (who went on to become the Fifth Hokage). In addition, the Third is the father of Asuma Sarutobi and grandfather of Konohamaru. He was picked to be the Third by the First and Second Hokages at an early age. He became known as "The Professor" due to his vast knowledge of jutsu and was highly respected and looked up to by all the villagers. The Third always seemed to say just the right thing to make somebody feel better, and always believed the answer to solve problems was to work it out peacefully, through verbal negations. Unfortunately, not everybody thought that way, as Orochimaru decided to invade the Leaf Village as revenge for not being picked as the Fourth Hokage (along with the goal of catching Sasuke as well). During the invasion. the Third put on a display of his high skills to protect the village and combat Orochimaru. However, due to the severe blows he took, along with his old age, he was unable to kill his former student. As a last ditch effort to at least stop Orochimaru from using any more jutsu, the Third turned Orochimaru's arms into stone as he fell to his death. Note: The Third Hokage had retired when he picked the Fourth Hokage, but had to come out of the retirement when the Fourth died.

  4th Hokage: Yondaime Name: Minato Namikaze Age: Unknown (deceased) Yondaime Hokage, the Fourth Fire Shadow,  was the the student of the Legendary Sannin, Jiraiya and a teacher to Kakashi, Obito, and Rin. He is also the father of Naruto Uzumaki. The Fourth was a brave and powerful ninja who fought with the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox, which terrorized the hidden Leaf Village, shortly after he became Hokage. He sacrificed his life to stop the Nine-Tailed Fox to stop it and sealed it inside of a baby - his son, Naruto. The Fourth is said to be the greatest ninja the Leaf Village had ever produced. He was a genius with a talent which can only be seen once in a decade, at best, with a desire to always succeed. He was the creator of the Rasengan and is also known as "Konoha's Yellow Flash" because of his unmatchable speed to attack enemies. Note: The Third Hokage wanted to select Orochimaru to be the Fourth Hokage, however, Orochimaru's evil intentions led the Third to select this skilled ninja as the Fourth.

  5th Hokage: Godaime Name: Tsunade Age: 51 (Part 1 of Naruto) /  53 (in Part 2 of Naruto) Godaime Hokage, the Fifth Fire Shadow,  is more commonly known as Tsunade - one of the three Legendary Sannin. She is the current Hokage of the Leaf Village. She was the the student of the Third Hokage and a teacher to Sakura Haruno and Shizune. In addition, Tsunade was the granddaughter of the First Hokage. Tsunade is regarded as the best medical ninja in the world and has unbelievable amounts of physical strength. She was picked by Jiraiya (and approved by the Leaf Village council) to become the Fifth Hokage, not only because of her skills as a ninja, but because of her intellectual abilities.  At first she rejected the offer to become Hokage because she thought it was stupid since her former boyfriend and little brother both died trying to achieve this dream. But, when she met Naruto, who showed her the same passion, hard work and determination that her brother and boyfriend had shown, she became inspired and accepted the position of the 5th Hokage.

  Only the leaders of the five most powerful shinobi villages are given the title of "Kage" (translation: "Shadow"). These ninja are generally the most skilled ninja in their village and are able to show superior physical and intellectual abilities.
  
  Below is a list of the five countries with the top shinobi villages.

  Chakra Guide

  In NARUTO, Chakra is the elemental type energy that a ninja uses in jutsu and is the source of the ninjas power. It's very similar to the terms Ki energy from Dragon Ball Z or Reiatsu from BLEACH. It's energy that is collected from cells in the body. In NARUTO, ninjas use both their chakra and spiritual energy (which is only improved through training and experience) to complete a jutsu. When both body and spirit energies are blended together (also known as the process of molding chakra) and the proper hand seal(s) are forumed, a technique can be executed. To perform a Ninjutsu or Genjutsu technique, it is crucial to mix your chakra correctly.
  
  Other than chakra, there is another factor that play a part in the execution of a technique. Stamina is that factor, as it plays a big role in the life of a ninja. Stamina is the ability to resist fatigue and tiredness. It is the amount of endurance you have, both physically and mentally. Without stamina, you cannot have chakra. In order for you to have chakra, you must convert it from stamina.
  
  Each technique needs a different amount of energy in different proportions. The mind and body power must be used in different proportions to execute different techniques. If you are unable to control the balance, the technique you are trying to perform will either be only half as effective or not executed at all. In the picture to the right, Naruto failed in making a perfect clone of himself. Instead he created a washed up clone of himself. 

  
  Kakashi informs Team 7 that the most difficult place to concentrate and control your chakra is in your feet. Naruto, Sakura, and Sasuke practice for days to master their chakra control by climbing trees without the use of their hands. Without Sakura and Sasuke, Naruto also practiced walking on water with Jounin Ebisu and the legendary sannin Jiraiya to help improve his chakra control.

  Note that chakra is only needed for executing Ninjutsu and Genjutsu attacks. It is not needed to perform Taijutsu attacks, as Taijutsu is dependent solely on stamina alone.

  Different Types of Chakra

  	Normal Chakra This is the basic and normal type of chakra which normally takes a form color of blue. It is the one we usually see everyone have.

  	Nine-tail Fox Chakra This Chakra possess an evil dwelling deep within, as it is the holding of the evil nine-tail demon fox demon. The nine-tail fox is deep within Naruto, and he is the only character which can use this Chakra.. This chakra gives a 'disguisting evil feel' as quoted by Zabuza from the early Naruto episodes. The Chakra is a red thick color and when it leaks out, it occasionally takes the form of the the demon fox. When the Chakra is released, Naruto starts to heal unbelievably quickly from his wounds and his speed and power increase dramatically.

  	Cursed Seal Chakra This is a power possessed by those who have been bitten by Orochimaru. This chakra is a dense tone of purple which revolves around the body when the seal is activated. This chakra, if used constantly, drains away the user's life force and soon will make them slaves to Orochimaru forever. This Chakra only appears when the user's normal chakra span is reduced to a minimum and they cant use anymore.

  	Healing Chakra This type of chakra is used by medical ninja for healing purposes. This greenish looking chakra can heal most physical injuries at astounding speeds. Tsunade mentioned that you need to have a high intellect and a desire to help others in need to be able to use medical powers. It is unknown if any other perquisite are necessary to have this type of chakra. To use it, the ninja gathers this Chakra in the area of their body they want to use to heal someone. Highly advanced users of this Chakra are able to even use it to heal themselves, however, it results in that ninja in having a shorter life span.

  	Eight Gates Chakra This Chakra strains the users body vigorously and if used wrong or past body limits, it may cause the user to die. If the Chakra is released through the gates within you depending on what it passes your speed/agility and power increases dramatically, but then again each move you make is like death for yourself if used incorrectly. This type of Chakra is suitable for mainly taijutsu moves as it increases speed for you to move around faster to release devastating blows and power to make them hard enough to hurt. The more gates opened the more power you obtain and the more life threatening it becomes as muscles start to strain and muscle fibers start to rip. Around the body is goes green and blue chakra flows around it. The eight gates are (in order of release): 1. Intial Gate (left side of the brain) 2. Energy Gate (right side of the Brain) 3.   Bingo Book

  The following contents are information about missing-nins that are considered harmful and dangerous. This is a book that every ninja keeps that lists records of these ruthful missing-nins and are considered to be on the "hit-list" if they commit any offensive actions. The book is a reference guide for the ninjas to know about the past and present crimes and illegal activity these highly-ranked criminals committed.
  
  Listed below are missing-nins who have currently betrayed The Hidden Leaf Village and other allying villages. Many of them are considered to be of "S-Rank" class for their powerful skills. The dangerous ones are the only ones listed in the Bingo Book. Even though Jiraiya, Tsunade, and Shizune are considered to be missing-nins because they departed from The Hidden Leaf Village, they do not count as being dangerous S-Rank criminal ninjas. They do not have murderous intents, as opposed to Orochimaru and Itachi.

  Hidden Leaf Village Missing-Nins

  	Orochimaru A ninja who is one of the Legendary Sannins, whom were taught by the Sandaime. He killed many innocent citizens to practice and master forbidden jutsus. His actions were considered illegal in The Hidden Leaf Village, and was dismissed of the Hokage position. He got angry by this and decided to leave The Hidden Leaf Village. He is an S-rank ninja who was once a part of the Akatsuki organization, deadly for their S-rank talents. He formed his own village called the Hidden Sound Village and keeps two other missing-nins from the Hidden Leaf Village as his subordinates - Kabuto Yakushi  and Sasuke Uchiha.

  	Sasuke Uchiha The younger brother of Itachi and the only other survivor of the clan, he became the top ranking rookie in his class and activated his Sharingan at an early age. He has been burdened with anger and spite for his older brother because he had killed his clan. Orochimaru and his ninjas tempted Sasuke to come to the Sound Village to attain more power and strength so he can kill Itachi. At first Sasuke resisted, but after a brief and unexpected meeting with his brother Itachi who beat him up and came to look for Naruto, Sasuke became angry and wanted more power so he he left the village to join Orochimaru.

  	Itachi Uchiha The genius offspring of the prestigious Uchicha clan, he activated his Sharingan at a young age and became ANBU captain at the age of 13-years-old. His thirst for attaining more power and to test his limits of strength led him to massacre his own clan. He is currently a member of the Akatsuki organization. He is considered to be extremely powerful and dangerous and was able to defeat Kakashi Hatake without even lifting his finger. He is ordered by the Akatsuki to capture Naruto Uzumaki for the Kyuubi power that is contained within him.

  	Kabuto Yakushi A skilled medical ninja who was taught by his respected foster father. He attended the Chuunin Exams numerous times, only to fail everytime. His actions were suspicious, and was discovered to be a spy for Orochimaru and the Hidden Sound Village.

  Hidden Mist Village Missing-Nins

  	Zabuza Momochi A murderous nin who is known for being a devilish silent killer. In the past, he killed over 100 shinobis in a final exam to finally become a genin. The Hidden Mist changed their examinations after that. As he grew older, his murderous intent never faded away and plotted to kill the Mizukage. His plan failed and he decided to flee to the Wave Country. He encountered a young boy with a bloodline named Haku. He became Zabuza's apprentice. Zabuza is also part of a group called the Seven Swordsmen of the Mist because of his skills in the utilization of large and unique swords.
  	----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  	Kisame Hoshigaki Kisame is one of the Seven Swordsmen of the Mist, seven powerful ninja who utilize large and unique swords. Like everyone seen from the Hidden Mist Village, Kisame uses water element jutsu in combination with his powerful physical attacks. Before he left, Kisame was an elite Jounin in the Hidden Mist Village. He began to assassinate the local feudal lords in his village and than eventually left and joined the Akatsuki.

  	Kimimaro Kaguya He is the offspring of the Kaguya clan and the soul survivor. Their bloodline consists of bones that can stretch, come out of their body, and use them as sharp weapons. His clan always had a murderous intent, on other people and even themselves. They foolishly massacred each other in their own village, and Kimimaro was the only one spared. Orochimaru observed the power and strength this clan had and decided to take Kimimaro in as his subordinate.

  Hidden Mist Village Missing-Nins

  Kakuzu Kakuzu seems to be male in the criminal organization known as Akatsuki. His reason for fleeing the Hidden Mist Village is unknown.

  Hidden Rock Village Missing-Nins

  Deidara A fancy and skillful fighter, with special mouths in the palm of each hand, he is able to manipulate clay into either a flight-capable clay bird that can support him or a a huge bomb that is capable of leveling a village without the use of exploding tags. Deidara's left the Hidden Rock Village and joined Akatsuki. The reason for fleeing in unknown.

  Hidden Rain Village Missing-Nins

  Hidan Hidan is a religous-type of guy. He usually prays during his missions and takes hours doing so, making sure he has done it right. He is first shown in NARUTO with a large rope attached to a weapon resembling an axe and says that he is the slowest attacker in Akatsuki. His reason for fleeing the Hidden Rain Village is unknown.

  Hidden Grass Village Missing-Nins

  Zetsu Zetsu left the Hidden Grass Village and joined the organization known as Akatsuki. His intentions are history with his village are currently unknown.

  Hidden Sand Village Missing-Nins

  Sasori Flashbacks seem to indicate that his descent into darkness started when his parents died. He is a puppet master and controls puppets in combat. Sasori left the Hidden Sand Village twenty years prior to the start of the NARUTO series and joined Akatsuki.

  Death Guide

  During the course of the Naruto series, many characters have died. Below is a list of the characters who have died in the Naruto manga and manga-based episodes. Characters are listed in alphabetical order by first name.

   

  	Asuma Sarutobi Killed by: Hidan At Age: 30 Details: Hidan performed a jutsu that caused Asuma any damage that Hidan received. Knowing he himself wouldn't die, Hidan stabbed himself in the stomach, fatally wounding Asuma, and eventually leading to his death.

  	Chiyo Cause of Death: Exchanging her life for Gaara At Age: Unknown Details: Akatsuki had extracted the one-tailed demon Shukaku from Gaara, causing him to die. Feeling guilty because she was the one who had sealed Shukaku in Gaara, Chiyo revives Gaara with a special jutsu. As a consequence of the jutsu, however, she was required to exchange her own life.

  	Deidara Killed by: Himself At Age: Unknown Details: Deidara is angry that it was Sasuke, and not him, who killed Orochimaru so he sets off to get revenge. As soon as he finds Sasuke, Deidara begins to attack Sasuke. Using his Sharingan, Sasuke is able to avoid most of Deidara's attacks. Frustrated that he is unable to defeat Sasuke, Deidara uses the mouth in his chest to turn himself into a bomb so that at least he can end the fight in a draw. Unfortunately for him, he only ends up blowing himself up as Sasuke survives.

  	Dosu Kinuta Killed by: Gaara At Age: 14 Details: Dosu tried to sneak up on Gaara to kill him so that he could fight Sasuke in the Chuunin Exam to prove to Orochimaru his worthiness. Too bad for him that Gaara was to strong.

  	Gaara Killed by: Akatsuki At Age: 15 Details: Akatsuki wanted the one-tailed demon Shukaku in Gaara, so they extracted it out of him. As a result Shukaku's extraction, Gaara ended up dieing. Note: Gaara does come back to life, as Chiyo exchanges her life for his.

  	Gato Killed by: Zabuza At Age: 49 Details: Gato betrays Zabuza and threatens to kill him for failing, so Zabuza kills him first.

  	Haku Killed by: Kakashi At Age: 15 Details: Haku's death was accidental. As Kakashi was ready to strike Zabuza with Lightning Blade, Haku jumped in the way and took the blow instead. He stays alive for a short while afterwards, but dies eventually.

  	Hayate Gekko Killed by: Baki At Age: 23 Details: After finding out that the Sound and Sand Villages were conspiring against the Leaf Village, Baki chased Hayate and killed him before he could warn the other villagers.

  	Hidan Killed by: Shikamaru At Age: Unknown Details: As revenge for killing Asuma, Shikamaru lures Hidan to the Naara ranch, and trick him into falling in a pit. With Hidan surrounded by explosive tags, Shikamaru throws a cigarette at an explosive tags, causing them to detonate, and killing Hidan. Note: While Hidan said he was immortal, the rest of the remaining Akatsuki members discussed with each other that they had lost another member, implying he actually did die.

  	Hokage, First Killed by: Unknown At Age: Unknown Details: He seemed to have died in his prime because when Orochimaru had resurrect him, he seemed to be in top physical condition.

  	Hokage, Second Killed by: Unknown At Age: Unknown Details: He seemed to have died in his prime because when Orochimaru had resurrect him, he seemed to be in top physical condition.

  	Hokage, Third   (Sarutobi) Killed by: Himself / death god At Age: 69 Details: In a long and hard fought battle during Orochimaru's invasion of the Leaf Village, the Third Hokage used a jutsu to seal the soul of Orochimaru's arms, inside his own soul, which was taken by a death god.

  	Hokage, Fourth    (Minato Namizake) Killed by: Himself / death god At Age: Unknown Details: In order to stop the Nine-Tailed Demon fox from terrorizing the Leaf Village, the Fourth used a jutsu to seal the Fox in his son Naruto, and having his soul taken away by a death god (not shown in anime/manga, but implied by Third Hokage during his battle with Orochimaru)

  	Hizashi Hyuuga Killed by: Hidden Cloud Village At Age: 32 Details: The head ninja from the Cloud Village tried to kidnap Hinata Hyuga to obtain the Byakugan. Hiashi Hyuga killed him before he could do so, causing the village to demand Hiashi's body or by going to war. Since Hiashi was considered nobility, his brother Hizashi volunteered himself as a sacrifice in Hiashi's place.

  	Iruka's Parents Killed by: the Nine-Tailed Fox At Ages: Unknown Details: Iruka's parents were two of the casualties during the Nine-Tailed Fox's rampage on the Hidden Leaf Village 12 years before the start of the Naruto series.

  	Jirobo Killed by: Chouji At Age: 14 Details: Jirobo was one of the Sound Four ordered to bring Sasuke to Orochimaru. In order to complete their mission, Jirobo stayed back to try to stop the Leaf Ninja from rescuing Sasuke. Chouji volunteered to stay back and fight Jirobo and was able to kill him with a fatal punch after he ate food pills to increase his strength.

  	Kaiza Killed by: Gato's Men At Age: 30 Details: Because he stood up to the Gato Corporation, Kaiza was was executed publicly, in front of the town who viewed him as a hero.

  	Kakuzu Killed by: Kakashi At Age: Unknown Details:  Naruto uses his new attack, the Fuuton: RasenShuriken, damaging Kakuzu at a cellular level, severing all of his nerves, destroying 2 of his hearts, and bringing his last heart to the brink of failure. With Kakuzu unable to move, and Naruto injured himself as a result of his own attack, Kakashi walks up and finishes Kakuzu off.

  	Karura Cause of Death: Giving Birth To Gaara At Age: Unknown Details: Against her wishes, her husband, the 4th Kazekage, had the spirit of Shukaku sealed within her unborn son. When that son, Gaara, was born she ended up dieing.

  	Kazekage, Third Killed by: Sasori At Age: Unknown Details: Unknown, but during a war that the Sand Village was in, Sasori kidnapped the Third, killed him, and turned him into a puppet.

  	Kazekage, Fourth Killed by: Orochimaru At Age: 40 Details: Orochimaru assassinated Gaara's father so he could attend the Chunnin Exam disguised as the Kazekage.

  	Kidomaru Killed by: Neji At Age: 14 Details: Kidomaru was one of the Sound Four ordered to bring Sasuke to Orochimaru. In order to complete their mission, Kidomaru stayed back to try to stop the Leaf Ninja from rescuing Sasuke. Neji volunteered to stay back and fight Kidomaru and was able to kill him by striking him in the face and upper chest with Gentle Fist-style attack.

  	Kimimaro Kaguya Killed by: His Own Illness At Age: 15 Details: Kimimaro was sent to aid the Sound Four and help bring Sasuke to Orochimaru. Naruto fought him at first, but was relieved by Lee so that he could chase Sasuke. Eventually Gaara came to Lee's aid and trapped Kimimaro in his sand. he was able to escape and was ready to kill both Lee and Gaara, but ended up dieing because of his illness before he could strike them.

  	Kin Tsuchi Killed by: Orochimaru At Age: 14 Details: Kin was used as a sacrifice by Orochimaru so that he could resurrect the First and Second Hokages to fight the Third.

  	Obito Uchiha Killed by: A Rockslide At Age: 13 Details: Obito pushed Kakashi out of the way of falling rocks, which ended up crushing part of his body. Being immobilized, Obito had Rin take out his left Sharingan eye and give it to Kakashi before more rocks fell from a mountain and killed him.

  	Orochimaru Killed by: Sasuke At Age: 53 Details: It's almost been three years and Orochimaru's body begins to fail him so he starts to think about taking over Sasuke. Before he has the chance though, Sasuke, jumps in to try and kill him. Orochimaru turns into his real form, a snake, and begins to suddenly transfer himself into Sasuke. With the use of his Sharingan, however, Sasuke turns the tables and  takes over Orochimaru instead.

  	Sakon and Ukon Killed by: Kankuro At Age: 14 Details: Sakon and Ukon were one (or two, they have one body though) of the Sound Four ordered to bring Sasuke to Orochimaru. In order to complete their mission, they stayed back to try to stop the Leaf Ninja from rescuing Sasuke. Sakon and Ukon fought and almost killed Kiba and Akamaru. Before they could, however, Kankuro comes to their rescue and kills Sakon and Ukon by trapping them in his puppet and then releasing the knives in his puppet to stab them.

  	Sasori Killed by: Chiyo At Age: Exact unknown, but around 40 Details: Sakon and Ukon were one (or two, they have one body though) of the Sound Four ordered to bring Sasuke to Orochimaru. In order to complete their mission, they stayed back to try to stop the Leaf Ninja from rescuing Sasuke. Sakon and Ukon fought and almost killed Kiba and Akamaru. Before they could, however, Kankuro comes to their rescue and kills Sakon and Ukon by trapping them in his puppet and then releasing the knives in his puppet to stab them.

  	Tayuya Killed by: Temari At Age: 14 Details: Shikamaru has Tayuya in a strain with his Shadow Possession Jutsu, but unfortunately for him he runs out of chakra. As Tayuya looks like she has Shikamaru dead, Temari comes to his aid and uses her fan and her summon to throw a gust of slicing whirlwinds to bring down the trees in the forest to fall upon and kill her.

  	Unnamed Killed by: Gai At Age: Unknown Details: He was used as a replacement in a shape shifting jutsu by Pein, taking on the shape of Kisame to hold off Gai, Neji, Tenten, and Lee from entering into Akatsuki's Lair while they extracted Shukaku out of of Gaara. Gai was able to kill him using the Morning Peacock.

  	Yashamaru Killed by: Himself At Age: 27 Details: After trying to kill Gaara and being pummeled by his sand in return, Yashamaru attempts to kill him again with a chest full of explosive notes. He fails and ends up only killing himself as Gaara's sand protects him.

Naruto was able to kill him using the Oodama Rasengan.

  	Zabuza Momochi Killed by: Gato's Men At Age: 26 Details: To defend Gato. Zabuza was already heavily injured from his battle with Kakashi, but Gato's men stabbed him with their weapons as Zabuza dashed to kill Gato. Zabuza succeeds in killing Gato, but also ends up dieing himself.

• Mission Ranks

  Missions Guide
  

  In each hidden village, missions are a daily things to each ninja. Clients often come to each village asking for the service of ninjas. These task could be from escorting duties or simply walking a dog. In return, the clients pay for the service to the village. Often, there are missions that are assigned by Kages that doesn't involve money, but rather as missions for the village or country. Each missions are broken down into difficulty with S being the most difficult and dangerous to D being the least.

  S-Rank Missions S Rank Missions are usually reserved for Hokage or very elite Jonin. They usually require that person to go to other villages. Example: Hokage going to other Village for peace treaty.

  A-Rank Missions A Rank Missions are reserved only for Jonin. This mission requires combat mission and retrieval of scroll and battle with other Village. Example: Retrieve a Missing-Ninja Specific Example: Track Sasuke and Gaara of the Sand Kakashi tells Sakura, Naruto and Shikamaru to track and find Sasuke, who was in pursuit of Gaara of the Sand.

  B-Rank Missions B Rank Mission are reserved only for Chunin. It somewhat requires a ninja to combat other ninjas of Hidden Villages. The missions require a ninja to go to other Countries. Examples: Protecting someone and escorting someone which involves other ninja Specific Example: Protect and Escort Morino Idate Team 7 was hired to protect Morino Idate, a runner in the Todoroki Shrine race in the Tea Country.

  C-Rank Missions C Rank Mission are reserved for low Chunin and high level Genin, usually 2nd and long Genin. It reguire little combat, usually from robbers and mobs, but not ninjas. The missions require a ninja to go to other Countries. Examples: Protecting someone, escorting a person to a place Specific Example: Protection of Bridge-builder Tazuna Though a C-Rank mission in name, this mission proved more deadly than Team 7 would have guessed. After all the events are said and done, it is regarded as an A-Rank mission. Though unfortunately it appears Team 7 still only gets credit for it as a C-Rank mission.

  D-Rank Missions D Rank Missions are reserved for 1st year Genin and low level Genin. This missions is to build up a Ninja's experience and also training. They have to do with hard labor and manual labor. They work mostly in the community and within Leaf Village. Examples: Walking and retrieving animals, picking up trash, help with farming/ Specific Example: Lost Pet "Tora" Search Mission Team 7 was hired by the Feudal Lords wife to find her lost cat. This early mission only served to frustrate Naruto. His complaints after this mission caused the Hokage to give the team their first C-Rank mission.

• Summonings

  Summonings

  In NARUTO, ninja are able to summon animals to fight on their behalf. This is called the Kuchiyose no Jutsu (Summoning Jutsu). To be able to summon these animals, ninja must sign a contract in blood with the species. Once done so,  the ninja can summon that species of an animal to help them out. We have seen animals of different sizes and skill levels. This depends on the ninja calling the animal and their chakra levels. The quantity of will chakra used at the time of the invocation will determine which size and skilled will appear. A small quantity of will chakra will lead to the appearance of a small animal and a large quantity of will chakra will lead to a large and powerful animal appearing.

  To summon the creature the ninja will often cut their hand (as a sacrafice), perform the necessary handseals and then touch their hand to the ground with some force. Once done so, the summoned animal appears. There can be variations to the summoning steps. Orochimaru, for example, wipes his blood across a snake tattoo on his arm first, and then touch the ground.

  Below are some of the summonings found in NARUTO.

  Toad Summonings

  Currently we know of only three people who have signed a summoning contract and can call upon the toads in NARUTO. All three are from the Hidden Leaf Village and they include Jiraiya, the Fourth Hokage and Naruto. There are a few different types of toads. They are below.

  	Gamabunta the King of Toads Gamabunta is truly the dream of all summoning ninja. His skill with the sword and knowledge of the world is not only powerful but essential. His great size and humorous behavior may take a while to get used to, but once you achieve the skill to summon him, you will be lifelong companions. Gamabunta will not fight anything that isn't a challenge, so calling him to a simple battle between a single shinobi will only result in angering or insulting him. He does however enjoy challenging fights against greater summons, and would prefer only to be called when in life threatening situations. Gamabunta was used by the Fourth Hokage and helped to defeat the Nine-tailed fox.

  	Gamasushi the Knight of Toads Wielding two swords Gamasushi is known mostly as "Watch Tower Destroyer" and "Yataikusushi". He is the most skilled of second most powerful toad. He can wield some powerful skills, but his true talent is in swordplay. He speaks but only when not in combat, when he does fight he typically doesn't say a word. Gamasushi is most known for battling alongside his summoner, with great skill and execution. He first appeared in the attack on the Hidden Leaf Village by the Sand Village when Jiraiya used him to fight Orochimaru's large snakes that were destroying the village..

  	Gamatabi He has great strength, but has not been seen in full battle yet. We only have seen him block Kisame's sword so that it would not hit Naruto when Itachi and Kisame were about to kidnap Naruto.

  	Traveling Toad This toad is called The Traveling Toad because his summoner rides him place to place. His first appearance was when Jiraiya was riding on him by the some hot springs in one of the first episodes that Jiraiya appears in. Also, this is the only toad that we have seen that does not speak.
  	----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  	Gamakichi Mostly a companion and a friend, Gamakichi is the 'talkative' toad of the group. He's smart-lipped and often has an opinion. His father is the King of all Toads, Gamabunta. A summoner cannot get anywhere with the Toads unless Gamakicihi approves of him first. With the approval of Gamakichi comes the approval of Gamabunta. He is the first real toad Naruto summons and appears often when Naruto makes a mistake in his summoning jutsu.

  	Gamatatsu This chubby little frog is more or less for company and nothing else. He eats more then he should be able to take in and is often a whiner. Although cute, Gamatasu is good for nothing more then a laugh. He is the toad Jiraiya accidentally summons during his tag-team battle between Orochimaru and Kabuto with Tsunade and Naruto.
  	A Toad's Stomach Jiraiya has the ability to call upon the stomach of a toad. When Jiraiya does this, it turns the surrounding area into the stomach of a toad to be used as a type of prison which imprisons its enemies and than slowly digests them. Before Itachi, no one had ever broken out of this jutsu.

   

  Snakes Summonings

  Currently we know of only two people who could call upon the snakes in NARUTO. Both of them are originally from the Hidden Leaf Village and they Orochimaru and Anko. It is assumed that Anko signed the same summoning contract as her old sensai Orochimaru to gain the ability to summon snakes.

  	Manda the King of Snakes Like Gamabunta, he is the king of the summoned animals in his species. Each time Orochimaru calls upon this him, Manda requires sacrifices of live prey. He seems to reflect Orochimaru's evil personality and is not the most obedient summon. Manda denied Kabuto's request during the fight between the three legendary sannin.

  	Anko's Basic Snake Anko summoned this giant snake to destroy a cave wall and provide shelter by traveling in its mouth.
  	Three Headed Snake This snake was called upon by Orochimaru when he was attacking the Hidden Leaf Village. These snake was quite powerful and did a lot of damage to the Hidden Leaf Village. Eventually it was defeated by the toad Jiraiya summoned, Gamasushi.

  	Orochimaru's Basic Snake During the Chunnin exams in stage 2 The Forest of Death, Orochimaru calls upon this snake to occupy Naruto while Orochimaru attacked Sasuke. It ate Naruto quickly and it seemed to be the end for him, however Naruto thought of all the people he cared about and his desire for a fight with Sasuke and defeated this snake with his Shadow Replication Jutsu.

  Other Summoned Animals

  	Katsuyu the Queen of Slugs This is the 5th Hokage / legendary sannin  Tsunade's summon. The first time we see Katsuyu was when Tsunade called upon it during the fight between the three legendary sannin. Although Katsuyu seems harmless, it is rather powerful. Its soft body gives it the ability todivide into millions of small slugs in the event of attack and escape its attacker. It can also send a kind of very powerful acid on its enemy. Unlike Manda (the snake king) and Gamabunta (the toad king), Katsuyu is a very nice and respectful.

  	Enma the King of Monkeys Enma is the summoning of the Third Hokage, Sarutobi. It seems to be the most powerful out of all the summons. The versatility of Enma is very impressive. In addition to having a great physical force, it is wise, intelligent, quick and can be transformed into a weapon of great power and practically unbreakable. Enma can also speak and it is very friendly with Third Hokage. Enma first appeared when the Third Hokage summoned him to help him fight Orochimaru during Orochimaru's attack on the Hidden Leaf Village.

  	Pakkun the Puppy Pakkun is a summoning of Kakashi Hatake. Pakkun is a very intelligent ninja puppy with an excellent sense of smell, which often helps Kakashi and his allies in missions that require finding someone. Pakkun is the one who helped find Sasuke after he went off to chase Gaara during the Chuunin Exams.

  	Eight Dogs Kakashi summoned 8 dogs during the fight with Zabuza. Kakashi made use of them by immobilizing Zabuza by trapping him so that Kakashi could defeat Zabuza with his Childori.

  	The Totoise This is Gai's summon. We only sees him for a few minutes right before the first part of the Chuunin examination. Rock Lee wanted to beat Sasuke to a pulp and wanted to use an attack that Gai told him to only use to save someone precious. This tortoise stopped Lee's attack, as Lee seemed to show him a lot of respect.

• Ninja Ranks

  Ninja Ranks In the world of Naruto, all village have ranks that defined who they are and how much they have accomplish. They lived ordinary lives but their dream is to someday become a Ninja (Shinobi). Anyone that want to become a Ninja must enroll in the Academy as Academy Student. If one does graduate from the Academy doesn't mean they will become a Genin, though are still regarded as Ninja. To achieve the title Hage is to be the strongest of that village and outwit your opponent in both body and spirit. There are other ranks like ANBU, Ninja Hunters and even Missin Ninja. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Academy Students The Ninja Academy is the first step in becoming a ninja. Academy student are enrolled as young as 6 and remain Academy Students until they pass the necessary tests. They are taught by Chunin. They do daily exercise and are taught basic ninja tactics, such as; weapons usage (kunai and shuriken), ninja justu; Transformation Jutsu, Clone Jutsu and most importantly, chakra control. This is similar to Elementary School. No missions are carry out by Academy Student. Upon graduation, each student will receive what is called "Forehead Protector". It means that you are officially no longer Academy Student but no a real Ninja. The forehead protector can be worn anywhere. Note: According to Naruto, the Leaf Village forehead protector is not only a sign of graduation from Academy School, but also a mean of fair fights between comrades. It is also for protection purposes. Graduating from the Academy and receiving the Head Protector does not mean that you are officially a Genin. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Genin - Cadets Genin means low Ninja because it is the lowest rank given to a Ninja. Though there are many Genin, they are very diverse in power and skills. There are weak and strong Genins. Genin are assign a team and are taught by a Jonin. They also receive further training (higher rank jutsu) and guidance. Genin are assign to mostly D-rank mission, the lowest of rank mission, like; manual labor, retrieve animal, pick grass or help with chores. C-rank mission are only given to talent/strong Genin. Many are given B-rank mission because of Ninja shortage. Mission are done by all 3 members of the team. Note: The process of officially becoming a Genin is passing the Survival Test when put into a team and being overseaed by a Jonin. That's why only 9 passed and became Rookie Genin: Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura, Shikamaru, Ino, Shino, Kiba, Chouji, and Hinata ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chunin - Commoners Chunin means middle Ninja. To get promoted to Chunin is very hard. You need a combination of strength and logic skills. They are team leader, who put can put their life on the line to save their comrades, insure that missions are carry out successfully, and are able to gather correct information and make the right decision in difficult situation. They must show leader skills as well as Jutsu skills. Chunin qualification are put to the test in the Chunin Exam. Chunin are either teacher or military leader for mission. Chunin are given C to B-rank missions. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Special Jonin - Special Elites Special Jonin are those who have master many high rank jutsu and also a specialize in a certain fields. They are usually in charge of the Chunin Exam and leader of a special force. An example of Special Jonin would be Ibiki for his talent for understand human psychology, which he is able to mess with people's mind and get the truth out of them. B-rank mission are given to them. Another example is Ebisu but his specialty is unknown. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jonin - Elites Jonin means high Ninja. Jonin are highly rank and skilled Ninja, especially in many kind of jutsu. They are often sent on A-rank mission. They are also assign to be a sensei of a certain team, to train and guide their Genins. Not many are chosen to become Jonin. The process is unknown. There is another classification under Jonin and that is S-class. There is no official rank given to S-class, but they can either be higher or lower the a Jonin according to their villages. S-class are known for their disappearance after they have reach Jonin in their prospected villages, as wanderer or private clan. They are very powerful individual capable of developing new techniques. Others are known because of their status/nickname. Densetsu no Sannin (Legendary 3 Ninja): Jiraiya the Toad Hermit and Toad Tamer, Orochimaru the Snake Tamer, and Tsunda the Slug Tamer and the Legendary Sucker for her bad gambling skills. Or others like the Fourth Hokage, Leaf Village Yellow Flash and Hatake Sakumo the Leaf Village White Fang. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kage Five Kages: from left (Mizukage, Kazekage, Hokage, Tsuchikage, Raikage. Kage means Shadow. Kage are leader of a particular Hidden Village. More precisely, there can only be 1 kage per Country (5 country), but can belong to any Hidden Villages. The title Kage is only given to the strongest Ninja in that Village, meaning strongest village in that country. Jonin and S-class are often chosen to be a Kage. Kage are extremely strong because of their ability to perform many unique, s-rank, and powerful jutsu. 3rd Hokage of the Village Hidden in the Leaf is known as "Professor" because he has master over hundreds or Jutsu and all Jutsu in the Leaf Village. Hokage belong to the Village Hidden in the Leaf. Mizukage belong to the Village Hidden in the Mist. Tsuchikage belong to the Village Hidden in the Rock. Raikage belong to the Village Hidden in the Cloud. Kazekage belong to the Village Hidden in the Sand. *There are different types of "Kages":  Ho-kage (Fire Country), Kaze-kage (Wind Country), Rai-kage (Lightning Country), Mizu-kage (Water Country), and Tsuchi-kage (Earth Country). ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Missing Ninja Missin-nin are ninja who have abandon their village. These missing-ninja are consider traitor and are are hunted down by Shinobi Hunters. Many leave because of their hatred for their village, unsatisfaction, or other goal. Example of missin-ninja would be Sasuke, Zabuza, Orochimaru and many more... ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Shinobi Hunters Each Hidden Villages has their own team of Ninja Hunters. Their main purpose is to hunt down Missin Ninja. After killing the missing-ninja, they would dispose of the body, leave no trace behind, take a sample (head or something) and bring back as clue. The dispose of the body is to insure that their Village Ninja secrets are to be study. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ANBU -Black Ops ANBU is known as the "Black Ops" in Viz Translation. They are chosen Chunin or Jonin who's mission is to assassinate any unwanted visitors in their village. They are also the village's protector. They are deploy in case of emergency (somewhat like the National Security of Defense). ANBU only disquised themself with a mask while on duty to distinguish themselves from normal ninja. ANBU also have a sword with them. Example of ANBU members are Kakashi and Itachi (captain at 13). Note: Current ANBU Leader is Raidou. The guy in white hood.

• Curse Seals

  Cursed Seals Guide The Curse Seal was developed by one of the Legendary Sannin, Orochimaru. The seal is used as a form to control the person and a technique to literally kill the person through suffering. A person with the curse seal only has a 10% chance of surviving. If the evil curse seal has consume a person's body, that person will gain tremendous dark chakra and increase their strength and speed, giving them level 1 curse seal. The curse seal can active at anytime. A person's will is able to stop the curse seal from spreading or active it. To obtain level 2 curse seal, a person must lost his life, not actually died but fake death. The person will eat the Seishingan drug and is placed inside a container, sealed with seal symbol. The drug will make the person fall into a coma, much like near death. When the Seishingan drug have fully consume the person, that person has achieved level 2. Anyone that stay in level 2 form for a certain amount of time will lose themselves forever and become evil. Sasuke Uchiha Curse Seal Sasuke's curse seal is known as the Heaven Seal. It is the strongest and powerful of all the curse seal. He received the mark during the 2nd stage of the Chunin Exam. It was merely a test for Sasuke to see how strong an Uchiha bloodline is. Curse Seal Level 1 Sasuke achieved level 1 curse seal when the curse seal had consume his body. It took over his body during the fight against the 3 Sound Ninja, giving him big amount of chakra. The spreading of the curse seal will active the level 1 curse seal. Curse Seal Level 2 After taking the Seishingan drug and placed inside the container, the drug was able to fully consume Sasuke and somewhat killed him. He must died to obtain level 2 curse seal. In this level, Sasuke light brown and grew longer hair and has 2 wings. This form makes his Chidori (Lightning Edge) turn black instead of white. Sasuke doesn't stay in this form long because he doesn't want to lose himself forever. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Anko Mitarashi Curse Seal Mitarashi Anko must of received the curse seal when she was young. Orochimaru used her to accomplish his own goal and never took care of her as his student. Anko survived after receiving the curse seal but we never saw her in at level 1 curse seal. She is able to control the curse. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jiroubou Curse Seal Level 1 Jiroubou probably received the curse seal when Orochimaru was scouting for an army. The curse seal spread in a triangle style. His strength increases. Curse Seal Level 2 His level 2 curse seal grant him 10 times the normal strength. His skin turns reddish and his hair is extended longer. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kidoumaru Curse Seal Level 1 Kidourmaru probably received the curse seal when Orochimaru was scouting for an army. The curse seal spread in a vine style. He is able to control and manipulate spiders and spider webs. Curse Seal Level 2 His level 2 curse seal turn him into a werewolf like. His skin turns red and has a fluffy hair and contain a third eye on his forehead. His body is protected and surround by spider web. His able to make bow and arrows with his mouth and shoot them. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kimimaro Kaguya Curse Seal Kimimaro's seal is known as the Earth Seal. It is the 2nd strongest and powerful as the Heaven Seal. He probably received the curse seal when he was a wandering kid. He is able to manipulate his bone structures and use them as weapons. Curse Seal Level 1 The curse seal spread like a maze. Curse Seal Level 2 His level 2 curse seal turn him dinosaur like creature. He has a tail and has 3 large bones sticking from his spinal cord. In this form he able to use his spinal cord as a weapon and create a flowering spear. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sakon - Ukon Curse Seal Level 1 Sakon probably received the curse seal when Orochimaru was scouting for an army. Sakon has a twin brother name Ukon that lives inside him. He's able to enter a person's body and destroy the person's cell from the inside. Ukon surface when Sakon summon him or on his own will. The seal spreads like a bold line.   Curse Seal Level 2 His level 2 curse seal, Sakon and Ukon each grow a horn on opposite side and a metal armor on the opposite side of the horn. In this form he is able to summon Orochimaru's strongest defense, the seal gate Rashomon. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tayuya Curse Seal Tayuya probably received the curse seal when Orochimaru was scouting for an army. Curse Seal Level 1 The seal spreads in a zigzag line. Curse Seal Level 2 Her level 2 curse seal, Tayuya grow 5 horns and turn dark brown. In this form she is able to use her Genjutsu techniques, the Demonic Flute: Illusion Harmony. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mizuki Touji Curse Seal This seal was sealed within Mizuki during his mission as a Chunin. He was bitten by Orochimaru's hidden snake in his right arm. This seal is different from other Orochimaru's seal. 1st Effect from Red Potion To achieve his perfect form, Mizuki stole 3 medical ingredients from Narake (Nara Laboratory) and mixed them together to get a reddish chemical. The red chemical increased the sizes of his arms, his face looks like a tiger and 3 black stripes on both of his biceps. 2nd Effect from Red Potion Mizuki will power up his aura to gain a distinct Tiger look. He has orange fur and white fur in the mid section. Stripes covers his arms and shoulder blade. In this form he divert his speed into power, making his reflexes slower but more power in his punches and kicks. Final Effect from Red Potion Mizuki's body began to change into an old and brownish body because of the incomplete medicine ingredient Mizuki drank (created during Orochimaru experiment for forbidden jutsu). The medicine take animals identity and infuse them with human to generate power but its only temporary. It put strains on the cell causing them to rotten and age.

  The Demon Fox Forms of Naruto Uzumaki

  Twelve years before the start of the NARUTO series, The Forth Hokage sealed the the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox, the Kyuubi, within a new born baby after its attack on the Hidden Leaf Village. That baby was Naruto Uzumaki, the host of what it is said to be the most powerful of the tailed-beasts. One that, with a single swipe of its claw, can raise tsunamis and flatten mountains This beast gives Naruto the ability to heal from wounds at astonishing speeds, as well as give him an immense amount of chakra. It is also the reason why Naruto has those three lines (or whiskers) on each side of his face. The Nine-Tailed Fox is activated in times of extreme rage (like when Naruto saw Sasuke take a hit for him and thought that he was going to die) and times of near death (like when Naruto is about to drown after being heavily wounded in the battle between him and Sasuke). As the Nine-Tailed fox is activated, Naruto becomes more and more like the Nine-Tailed Fox. The Third Hokage and Kakashi Hatake have said that if Naruto loses all control of the Nine-Tailed Fox's chakra, than the seal which keeps it inside Naruto will break and the Nine-Tailed Fox will be freed.  If the Nine-Tail Fox escapes from Naruto, then we will die. Fortunately for Naruto and his comrades this has not happened yet. He has been trained by one of the three legendary Sannin, Jiraiya, so that he could control and call upon the power of the Nine-Tailed Fox at will.

  Demon Fox 0-Tailed Stage This is the first form Naruto has taken under the influence of the Nine-Tailed Fox. Naruto's eyes turn a ferocious red, his whiskers increase in size, his hair becomes a little more animal like, his fingernails and teeth grow sharp, and he runs on all four of his limbs. In addition, Naruto gets an energy boost from the Demon Fox's chakra, healing his wounds, increasing his speed, and giving an extra bang to his attacks. Naruto is conscious at this level and is able to control and summon this stage at will after receiving training from Jiraiya.

  Demon Fox 1-Tailed Stage When it seemed like it was the end for Naruto in his fight against Sasuke in the Valley of the End, the Nine-Tailed fox grants Naruto more chakra than he has ever received before. In this stage Naruto gains all the physical attributes that he gained in the first stage as well as a 1-Tailed Fox outline around his body made of chakra. This chakra is hot. So hot, that the water around Naruto is boiling as Naruto is in this stage. The fox-shaped chakra around Naruto's body isn't just for show though. It increases Naruto's reach, as he can thrust his physical arm forward and attack his opponent with an extendable arm made of chakra. In addition to that, it can act as a defense mechanism and deflect incoming attacks without Naruto even controlling it. And of course, Naruto can heal quicker than normal, and is faster and stronger than he was in his tail-less Demon Fox form. Despite his beastly look, Naruto is conscious at this level, and can control what he does.

  Demon Fox 2-Tailed Stage This is Naruto's third Demon Fox stage. In this stage he inherits all the traits that he had before, but now instead of one-tail, he has two tails instead. In addition, Naruto looks more monstrous than before, with his eyes widening, and teeth becoming even more sharper. As to be expected, he is faster and stronger than the previous stage. Like before, he is still conscious, but it begins to look like the Demon Fox's personality is more visible than before.

  Demon Fox 3-Tailed Stage This is Naruto's fourth Demon Fox stage. In this stage he inherits all the physical traits that he had in the previous stage, but now instead of two-tails, he has three. Naruto can now counter attacks and do damage just by simply roaring, indicating he is more powerful than he was at his previous states.

  Demon Fox 4-Tailed Stage This is Naruto at the 4-tailed stage. Unlike the first four stages where Naruto was in control of himself, in this form, the Nine-Tailed Fox has a grasp of Naruto in his internal Demon Fox prison. This result is that Naruto has no control of his body and the seal that traps the Nine-Tailed Fox in Naruto loosens further. In addition, the chakra that the Demon Fox emits overtakes Naruto's physical body, leaving no visibility of human flesh. He is essentially on fire with chakra with his physical features are similar to that of the Nine-Tailed Fox himself. Not only does Naruto's appearance change, but his power is at its greatest ever. Just a roar produces frighteningly powerful and destructive effects. Even Orochimaru says that if he is to get hit by Naruto at this stage, he'll get killed for sure. Unfortunately for Naruto, this stage causes Naruto's lifespan to shorten. Being at this stage destroys his cells, but at the same time, because of the Nine-Tailed Fox's special ability, generates new cells o replace the destroyed ones. It would seem it would be a good thing for new cells to be made right away to replace the destroyed ones, but it is not. Everybody's body has a limit to how many cells can be produced in a life time. It is encoded in the genetic code. Because cells are being regenerated at an accelerated rate in Naruto's body so quickly, his life span is decreasing since he won't have the ability to produce new ones at some point later in time. (This is not only true for Naruto, but for us humans in real life. Cool huh? Who knew NARUTO was so educational)
