Bound With A Kiss

Bound With A Kiss

Light rain softly fell from the black clouds that moved dreamilly across the sky. Konoha was draped in darkness, the only light being from the lamposts, glowing dimly in the raindrops. The river that coiled its way through the forest and under the bridge like a snake was making a soft shhh sound as the droplets bounced off its surface. This bridge was the same bridge Team 7 gathered every day for missions - or used to gather.

A lone figure was standing by the railings, her bare arms draped across them limply. The girl was Haruno Sakura, a pink haired kunoichi. Her jade eyes were dim in the mist of the rain and her eyes were fixed on the murky waters below. Sakura couldn't care less that she was cold and wet, she was deep in thought about her team mate, Uchiha Sasuke. Sure, Kakashi had said it would be fine, but how could she believe that? Sasuke was now...within the darkness. She remembered the look on his face when he had fought Naruto. It was not just the usual mocking smirk, but it was filled with malice and a new kind of evil had entered his dark orbs. Sakura shivered slightly and rubbed her hands up and down her arms. She had no desire to return home, her Mother would only pester her to come to her about her problems. Sakura didn't want to share these concerns with her Mother, they weren't very close.

"Sakura?" A familiar voice cut through the sound of the rain and reached Sakura's ears which were now covered in unpleasent goosebumps. She arced her head around to see Uzumaki Naruto standing a little way away from her. His bright blue eyes were filled with concern and worry and Sakura wondered why she had never noticed how caring and kind he was to her. Her lips curled there way into a gentle smile. "Hey, Naruto."

Naruto walked slowly over to her and leaned on the railings beside her. His shocking blonde, spiked hair was going slightly floppy in the rain but he didn't seem to care. His forhead protector was shimmering slightly in the moonlight. He grinned at her when he noticed her smile. "What are you doing out here, Sakura-chan?"

"Oh, just thinking..." Sakura replied, her smile fading away instantly as her thoughts returned to the raven-haired Ninja. Naruto's face fell when he spotted her expression. His face was just the same as the time Sakura had asked him on a "date" because she wanted to talk to him about Sasuke's seal. Sakura recognized this expression and felt ashamed of herself and humiliated for becoming so depressed. Naruto felt equally ashamed for breaking his promise to bring Sasuke back, after he had cheered her up and reassured her. His hand clenched into a fist.

"He...he always makes you sad, doesn't he?" Naruto muttered. Sakura's eyes widened and she turned her gaze on the orange-clad Ninja beside her. Naruto was staring into the river, his eyes filled with a mixture of emotions, sadness playing the main role.

"I-I'm fine, Naruto. Really!" Sakura answered him, forcing a very painful smile.

"Sakura-chan." Naruto said, connecting his bright blue eyes with her green ones. "You don't have to pretend with me, you know. I can see right through you."

Sakura's eyes wavered and she swallowed, her throat tightening. Naruto had always been the one who understood and recognized her, he had always been there to protect her and make her feel like she was worth more than life itself, whereas Sasuke had done nothing but hurt her. Naruto would gladly put his life on the line to keep a promise to Sakura and protect her. "Naruto..." Sakura whispered, at a loss for words. She often found he had that effect on her, the effect where she couldn't find the right words and she found herself muttering his name. Saying his name made her feel like she could take on the world. Suddenly she had the realization that she probably wouldn't be who she was today if it weren't for Naruto. What if he were gone instead of Sasuke? When Sasuke left, Sakura had cried but eventually pulled herself togther. If Naruto had left, Sakura didn't think she'd ever be able to pick up the pieces of her life. "Naruto.." She said again, tears forming in her eyes. She realized something else, she had never asked permission to address him with his first name, and using it without permission was extremely rude. "I never asked...your permission...if I could call you Naruto."

Naruto looked shocked for a moment, then he smiled. "Of course you can, Sakura-chan."

"You don't need to call me Sakura-chan, either." Sakura whispered so quietly that he had to strain his ears. "We're close enough now, aren't we?"

Naruto gave her a warm smile, and felt extremely happy that she had told him they were close. "Yeah, but I guess it's just tradition, you know?"

"Yeah." Sakura answered.

Naruto suddenly placed his hands on her shoulders. "Listen." He said. "I know you'll probably smack me for putting my hands on your shoulders, but we're friends. You should be able to come to me for anything, Sakura-chan. That bastard doesn't deserve you. All he does is hurt you. But...Sakura-chan likes Sasuke very much, and I promised to bring him back for you. Just for you...I'd do anything."

Tears threatened to spill from Sakura's eyes and eventually her emerald eyes couldn't hold them anymore and they fell down her cheeks like an elegant, flowing stream. Naruto's expression became sad when he saw that she was crying. He hesitated before wiping a tear from her cheek with his thumb. Sakura was suprised at how gentle his touch was.

"Don't punch meee, Sakura-chan!" Naruto joked. Sakura actually giggled through her tears, making a slightly choked sound. At that moment, the truth was that she would do anything other than punch him. Her thoughts were the complete opposite. He's so...caring. He understands me. He protects me. Why...Why did I...

Sakura looked up at Naruto sadly, and shocked him by pressing her gentle fingertips against his cheek. She moved her fingers up and down gently, her thoughts and hormones racing.

"You're always...there for me, huh?" Sakura smiled. "You...you're always the one who understands me. Why am I so...so...stupid? I-I wish I'd never fallen in love with...with S-Sasuke-kun..."

Naruto felt a pang of pain upon hearing these words spoken from her lips, and the pain remained there when she broke down and began to sob infront of him. Her hand dropped limply from his face and she burried her face in her hands, trying to maintain what little dignity she had left.

"Naruto..." Sakura sobbed. "P-please help me...I don't want to feel like this anymore!"

Naruto gritted his teeth, the pain in his heart unbearable. Sakura removed her hands from her face and stared up at him with a red, tear-stained face. Her tears mingled with the raindrops in the air, and the weather reflected their moods in pathetic fallacy.

"Sakura-chan." Naruto said quietly. "I understand how you feel. Y-You know...I always asked you on dates didn't I? And I always joked with you...but...it's more than that now. It's become so much more. It's not just a stupid crush."

Sakura stared at him, the tears streaming down her pale cheeks. Naruto truly cared for her...and now that she took a closer look, he had become more handsome in the past half of a year. Possibly even more than Sasuke. He's always been there...always protected me...and now he's trying to say that he...and I...Sasuke-kun...

"...I mean.." Naruto said, turning a light shade of pink. "...I...I love you, Sakura-chan."

Sakura had been expecting this. How did she really feel? She tried to search inside her heart. Sasuke was a childhood crush. Why did she love him so much? He was a good friend but he made it clear that he didn't like her that way. He had turned his back on them and tried to kill Naruto. Naruto was so...so different...she had even come to admire him..

"I...I don't know how I feel." Sakura muttered, hugging herself. "I...I've come to really like you, Naruto. More than I ever used to. I admire you so much...I respect you...maybe...I think, maybe deep inside myself...I love you too. But...I just don't understand myself. You mean more to me than anything now...i care about you so much but...is it love? What is love? I don't...u-understand..."

Naruto suddenly wrapped his arms around Sakura in a gentle embrace. Suprisingly, she did not resist. She wound her arms around his neck and burried her head in his orange jacket. They stood together in the light rainfall, unaware of anything else around them. Naruto could feel her breath on his neck and felt her shivering against him. He was also aware of her sobbing into his shoulder. He pulled back slightly so that he could look at her, and ran his hand down her cheek. "Don't cry anymore, okay Sakura-chan?" He whispered. "I will keep my promise."

Sakura smiled but the tears continued to fall. Naruto drew closer and pressed his lips gently against hers. Sakura's eyes stayed open for a moment in shock, but her emotions took over and for some reason she found herself returning the gesture. She found that she was the one who made the kiss more affectionate, and she was suprised by this. But she didn't care anymore. She felt loved and cared for, and she couldn't have thought of a better person to share her first kiss with. This kiss was a seal, a seal binding Naruto's promise and binding his love for her. She knew that no matter what, he would aways protect her, and love her.

'Maybe deep inside myself...I love you too.'

THE END

Chritsmas Present

Chritsmas Present

The kyuubi vessel bounced in place, a red Santa hat obscured his golden hair and his hands were wrapped in two red mitts. He wore a jacket and pants that was exactly the same as his old one except for the fact that his top was red and his pants were a deep green. Bright cobalt eyes sparkled under the glow of the Christmas lights. "Yay! My turn! My turn!" He chirped.

Tsunade smiled indulgently at the hyper demon sealed boy. "Yes it’s your turn." She affectionately ruffled the ramen-loving child’s hair. She turned towards the small crowd of shinobi. "All right then! Who’s the brat’s Secret Santa?" She called out over the assembly.

Naruto scanned the room eagerly. Was it Neji? No he already gave Sakura a very expensive pack of medicinal herbs and items ( Neji was then immediately glomped and given a peck on the cheek much to the mutual protective hate of Kakashi, Sasuke and Naruto). Kakashi-sensei? Nah he gave Gaara a copy of Icha Icha Paradaisu (which was immediately set on fire by his siblings before Gaara kindly stated he already had a copy much to the shock of everyone there). Hinata? She already gave a cute stuffed tiger to Jiraiya (that was instantly cuddled and named Tsunade). Sai? No, he’d given Sasuke a watercolour painting of a forest and a few insults about the Uchiha’s nether regions (Sasuke replied in kind and they both simultaneously decided to kill one another - secretly). Okay then Kiba? Shino? Shikamaru? Ino? Who was it!

The blonde hopped from foot to foot in anticipation. A few seconds passed and no one stepped up, Naruto began to falter a bit. ‘I guess no one got me anything . . .’ He sulked.

Tsunade’s lips thinned as her ire rose. She wasn’t the only one either seeing as the blonde had, over time, gained an abundance of close friends. They were gonna murder the Naruto’s Secret Santa if he/she hadn’t even bothered to get him anything.

"Give it to him you idiotic forehead girl!"

Eyes suddenly swiveled towards the Ino and Sakura who were supposedly ‘whispering secretly’ in the back of the crowd. Both were completely unaware of the eyes watching them.

"I’ll . . . He won’t like it!" Sakura hissed, within her arms she clutched a small neatly wrapped present.

Ino’s glare intensified. "He’s getting sulky moron! Give it to him or I will!"

"I’ll just get him something better after."

" Don’t you dare! This took us forever to think of!"

"He won’t like it! I honestly think he’d prefer free ramen." Pink haired kunoichi growled.

"To him it WILL be better than free ramen!" Ino glared in exasperation.

"How would you know!"

"Why don’t you just let him decide that!"

"Yeah why don’t you let me decide?"

The two girls started at the blonde’s voice, the pink haired girl turned to him abashed, the grip on his present slackened. "I . . . . You won’t - Hey!"

Naruto eagerly grabbed the small half-inch thick package and tore off the red and green wrapping.

"It . . . It was just something I saw on tv that I thought was cute." Sakura stuttered.

The blonde stared at the pink book-like thing in his hands. It had white cherry blossoms as a border and next to the title a picture of Sakura was grinning up at him.

"I’m sorry I didn’t get you something better. I know I should’ve gotten you some ramen or something of the sort!" She was rambling now.

He tilted his head to the side. ‘Haruno Sakura Actions Voucher.’ He turned it around and read the back.

"It’s really really really stupid I know. It’s just it kinda seemed like a good idea at first."

The ‘Haruno Sakura Actions Voucher’ allows Uzumaki Naruto (his name was scrawled in fancy lettering) specific use of any action within this package will receive (or do) the actions from( or with/to) Haruno Sakura. Each voucher is usable only once and will become void after every use. The voucher includes the following free actions:

"But then I got here and I realized how stupid the idea was especially since Ino agreed so readily . . ."

"So I just thought that – " Sakura cut herself off when she saw something pink being waved in front of her face. She looked towards her teammate who grinned at her. "Err . . . what . . . ?"

"A hug. One free hug." He chirped.

Gingerly the kunoichi reached out, took the small slip, ripped it in half, and handed the stub of it to the blonde. She let out a squeak of surprise when she was suddenly drawn squarely against the flat plains of Naruto’s chest and held tightly around the waist. "At least give me some warning!"

"You’re supposed to hug me." Naruto pointed out with a grin.

Sakura groaned. "I should’ve just given you free ramen." She murmured before circling her arms around his neck.

The group of shinobi around them observed them with varying responses. Sasuke narrowed his eyes. Ino gave a triumphant ‘I-am-the-best-matchmaker-ever!’ look. Lee felt mushy and hugged Tenten. Tenten hugged back. Jiraiya attempted to hug Tsunade. Tsunade punched him through a wall. Sai lifted a brow. And so on and so forth.

A few minutes passed and the two ninja had yet to part. "Err . . . Naruto?"

Said shinobi was smiling like an idiot. "Yeah?"

"You can let go of me now."

"I know."

". . . . ." Sakura peered up at the blonde male. "So why don’t you?"

To which Naruto replied. "Voucher didn’t say there was a time limit."

". . . . You’re gonna die." She said darkly.

"But I’m not done hugging yet! R . . remember? YOU gave me it!" He said hastily!

Ino grinned. "He’s has a point."

Sakura turned towards her so-called ‘best friend’. "Shut it!" She turned back to Naruto. "Then you can die after!"

Uzumaki grinned. "Then I’ll just never let you go!" He chirped.

"NARUTO!"

Naruto and Sakura sat on the Hokage monument, taking a break from training. The two sat in silence, enjoying one another's company. Sakura had shut her eyes moments before, opting to listen to the sounds of the village below.

“Hey, Sakura-chan?,” Naruto asked.

“Hm?,” she responded, eyes still shut.

“I've been thinking.”

“That's a first,” she joked.

“Heh. No, I've just been thinking about the two of us.”

“Us?,” she repeated, opening her eyes, suddenly curious. “What do you mean?”

“I mean how alike we are.”

“Alike?”

“Yeah, like our determination. We never back down or give up until we accomplish what we set out to do. There's also the fact that we overcame what we had to deal with as kids.”

“Naruto, what I went through doesn't even come close to what you had to go through. Not at all.”

Naruto just shrugged at this. “Well, Sakura-chan, we're both equally perverted,” he said with a chuckle. Sakura glared at him. Ignoring it, he continued, “But, the thing I think makes us most alike is that we both love someone we can never have,” he finished sadly.

“That's where you're wrong, Naruto.”

“How so?”

“You have me,” she said quietly, leaning over and softly pressing her lips against his.

“I love you, Naruto.”

Zoning Out

Zoning Out

Naruto kept nodding off and staring into space, only to be whacked on the head with one of Sakura's books.

"Naruto, pay attention!," snapped the pink-haired medic.

"But Sakura-chaaan, it's so boooring!," whined Naruto, rubbing his head.

"I don't care. You're the one who wanted to learn medical ninjutsu," Sakura stated matter-of-factly.

Naruto said nothing, crossed his arms and pouted, not looking at his green-eyed friend. Sakura sighed and calmly said, "Naruto, look at me."

Naruto kept his gaze away from her.

"Fine, forget what I was going to tell you," Sakura said, hurt in her voice.

"Tell me what?," Naruto asked, unfolding his arms and leaning closer, finally looking Sakura in the eye.

"Forget it, you wouldn't care, you're just a jerk."

"Come on, Sakura-chan, I'm sorry! Please tell me!," he begged.

"Well, I WAS going to treat you to ramen if you behaved and paid attention," she said, mentally kicking herself for saying that. She continued, though, "but since you're being so mean, I'm not going to," she finished, pouting and mimicking Naruto's earlier actions.

"W-w-wait!," Naruto stammered, "I'll be good, Sakura-chan, I promise!," he said as he grabbed a nearby book and began to rapidly scan through the pages. Sakura smirked inwardly, she knew her little act would work!

All throughout the remainder of the study session, Sakura was smiling.

By the time dinner was finished, she was frowning at her empty wallet

Long Awaited Chance

Long Awaited Chance

“Sakura? You home?” a boy hollered on the outside of the door. An orange jacket that he almost always wore was tied around his waist, revealing a baggy, black t-shirt. His hair was spiked as it always was, with a silver-plated head band that bore the Hidden Leaf Village symbol, running across his forehead. He had as friendly grin and friendly blue eyes that shone with pure determination. His name? Naruto.

His smile faded as he looked blankly at the door in front of him.

“Hm… I guess she’s not home…” he said silently. As he turned away from the door, it swung open to a glowing face of a girl about his age. Her bright pink hair was tied back and her Leaf head band was being used as a hair band and she was wearing her usual red-ish-pink dress. Her name? Sakura.

“Naruto!” she said kind of excitedly. She grinned at the mere sight of him, then reached out to hug him. Naruto’s face flushed, making him almost as red as her dress.

“H-hi… Sakura…” he stuttered. Sakura let go of him and they stood there a while, blushing.

“I… Uh… brought you some vegetables.” Naruto thrust a bag in-between them, hiding his face.

“Naruto…” began Sakura. She tried to find the right words, but she couldn’t without crying. ‘Why can’t I speak to him?’ she thought to herself.

Naruto wasn’t sure why she started crying, and he sure didn’t know why he did what he did next. (Author note: I’m terribly sorry if this sentence didn’t make sense…) He reached over and kissed her, surprising her. She wasn’t sure what to do, but she hugged him, embraced him.

When Sasuke returned not to long after, he found something he somewhat expected, but it was still surprising. He found Sakura, but she wasn’t alone. She was hand-in-hand with Naruto, and they were smiling.

“My work here is done.” Sasuke said to himself. He then left the crowd, wandering his old village, looking for nothing in particular, and smiling, something that no one has seen in years from him. But come on, he was away…

Her Favorite Accessory

Her Favorite Accessory

Every girl had her favorite accessory. It was just something that the female gender did. It couldn't be predicted, couldn't be rationalized, and couldn't be helped. It was simply that special, once in a lifetime, item your mind subconsciously selected as it's favorite. Whether it be a red ribbon you tied in your hair, a sparkly green belt, or homemade friendship bracelet. You naturally grew to adore this item. This Mecca of unbelievably stylish taste, that always looked good with anything.

For Sakura, that accessory had been quite odd. It wasn't pink, fashionable, or even an item of girl's clothing. It was dirty, worn, and held a strong sent of natural musk. All of which, could not ever be corrected, no matter how many times you washed the fabric. Yet, she still loved it.

It was perfect to wear anytime, and anywhere. When it was cold, it provided her warmth. When she was feeling bare, it covered her up. When she was missing him, it comforted her. Yes, it truly was the perfect clothing article. That orange jacket of hers. The color ha faded from age, and it's fibers had been worn thin by it's hard ninja lifestyle, but after all this time it finally fit her snuggly. Seeming to be her exact size. She'd proudly wear it around Konoha feeling super cute and at ease. Circular clan symbol and all.

The girl smiled, cuddling lovingly into the jacket. It was just like him. Warm, covering, comforting, and snug. Always making her feel beautiful and comfortable. Yes, his jacket was a lot like him.

Perfect
