Everyone, there is now an official list of moderators. Anyone in this list can be contacted for help with the website, or if you see something against the rules.
Moderators also have yellow/gold leaf village symbol badges. - Posted Oct 2, 2008 by TigerC10 | 22 Comments | Share It

By
KiraOni on October 5, 2008 at 02:10:06 AM
He's not.
Especially since he can't distinguish that Tiger didn't even make the list, & it's the people that have the badge via "Search".

i don't think that the mods should have a specific badge. i respect the moderates and i view them as role models (as we all should) but i think that the badge just gives them bragging rightst that they are a mod and no one else is. not that i think TigerC10, Midori or DP would brag, but it is like it is being shoved in our faces that we aren't mods. and if you've read what i just wrote you are probably going to ask me if i think that it is unfair that police officers have badges. i don't think that is unfair. police officers work hard for their badges. i am not saying the mods don't, but anyone who obeys the law can become a police officer. not everyone on this site can become a mod. so, to sum up, i am not mad at the mods or even the_hokage, i just think that instead of the badges, the mods should have some other sort of symbol of their authority. like maybe a colored box next to their rank that symolizes that they have modderating authority. you don't have to take these words into consideration (unless you want to) because i just want to get my feelings out. there isn't really very much i could do about it.

Okay a colored box next to your rank box would be the same
I don't mind it (even though I want the badge so badge it looks awesome)
second this points out the Mod

@madara - The badge is the most fair that they can get. The only other way to make an easy list of moderators is to give us a special rank (the colored box you were talking about). This would mean that instead of having to work up through genin/chunin/jonin/anbu etc. we would instantly be ranked above anbu, shoot even above sanin or kage rank. This would give us an unfair advantage to the rewards section.
Anyone on this website can become a moderator, and like the police forces only the best are chosen. Honestly, go down to the local police department and ask them if you can be an officer of the law. Unless your town is less than 100 people I think you'll have to pass their tests and be the best among the applicants. The only difference in the process here is that you actually apply to become a police officer.
I have delt with too many people telling me that they don't know who the moderators are. The idea came from Endless Nocturne, another Namco/Bandai Be Affinitive website. Consider it the sister website to Hokage's Room. It would seem that this is becoming a standard.
Being a moderator is a lot of work. I don't even know how many times I have spent hours at a time just cleaning stuff up and trying to remind people about the rules. It's also a very thankless job. I got a "thank you" not too long ago. It's been 4 or 5 months since the last one. Mostly people hate you for doing your job as a moderator - they accuse you of being biased and you have to listen to people tell you over and over again, "it was a hacker! that wasn't me!" I don't even know how many people accused me of not doing my "job" when I do it every single day, multiple times over.
I wrote a blog entry about/for people who want to become moderators... I just can't stress it enough, that being a moderator is not something you should aspire to. I really don't want to be a moderator, I would rather that people just treat each other properly and no-one mistakenly posts in the wrong section... But it happens, and since The_Hokage sees fit that I should be capable of dealing with those situations, I will. I don't do it for me, or else I'd have quit by now (I don't need this hassle or disrespect, nor do I need the time impositions). I moderate because I care about this community. I care about the welfare of this community more than I care about my own personal satisfaction.
So yes, I have earned this badge. I won't lord it over someone, that would be taunting you - trying to make you want the badge. In reality none of you should want this badge. And you should all feel sorry for me that I got it, because I had to deal with a LOT of messed up stuff for it - and were I a lesser man I'd have had a mental break down by now.
