Naruto: Ultimate Ninja 3 Walkthrough

This walkthrough belongs to me and may only be used on Hokage’s Room. It may not be sold for profit, but feel free to recommend it to your friends. You don’t have to ask me for permission to copy information from it, but it would be nice if you told people you got it from this walkthrough. 

I am going to skip the controls area due to the fact that you have an instruction manual. If you don’t, just go to Iruka’s training for a while. I will, however, include techniques and tips used by pros such as myself. 

I will underline the names of all items that you acquire in order to use certain ougis (ultimate jutsu).

Ultimate Contest [UN3_2]
~~~I will go through the story without talking to any miscellaneous characters to save the extras for after I complete the story mode. If you want to follow this walkthrough exactly, I suggest not talking to anyone except those holding crystals. ~~~

Story Completion [UN3_2.1]
Kakashi wants you to meet him at the Training Field. Iruka will ask if you know about summoning and capturing. They are simple concepts, but feel free to ask for help if you want. Remember, though, you can always go to him later and ask for help. Kakashi will explain the simple concept: defeat other ninja to get crystals.
Kiba will appear to fight you. Defeating him will give you experience to increase your stats, and a blue crystal. You will need 60 points, which is 60 blue crystals, 12 red crystals, or a combination of the two. Blues are worth 1, while reds are worth 5. 
You will jump to a scene where Hinata’s weak self is getting jacked by Kankuro, and Naruto runs in to save her. Well… not exactly, but you end up fighting him anyway. Naruto should level up after this fight. 
Sasuke will be fighting Kakashi, Naruto will walk in on it and start yelling obnoxiously, and Naruto and Sasuke will team up against Kakashi. If you do good enough, Naruto and Sasuke may level up and you may acquire new ougis. However, you will not have the items to use these ougis yet, so just continue without customizing.
Now we begin the free-roam part. Iruka will appear and tell you that he is available at Ichiraku Ramen to offer advice. Try to talk to him before e-mailing me with your concerns :-p. There are many ninja around the village now that you can battle for crystals, displayed as large red dots. You cannot accept missions, so focus only on the opponents. I will now use bullets to display crystal locations.
~~After certain actions, you will see orange dots on your map. Go pick up the orange scrolls, as they will come in handy later. Sometimes they will be in the air. Press R1 and throw shuriken at them.~~

Enter the Ichiraku Ramen stand and talk to the owner for a red crystal.
Talk to the merchant behind Ichiraku and buy the Potato Chips and Oinment. Choji by the Amaguriama and Hinata by the General Store will use these respective items and give you crystals in return.
Gaara will be behind the item shop. 
Near the flower shop, check the bushes on display for a red crystal. Check the well to the east for another red crystal.
Sakura is near the river.
Visit the Training Field to fight Lee and find several crystals.
The other areas also hold crystals.

Even after getting 60 points, you will have to keep battling and collecting crystals. I find that if you have 60+ points and nothing happens, you have to make sure you:
Bought the items Choji and Hinata want.
Played Tenten’s Target practice at the Hot Spring.  
After doing everything right, you will have to go to Memorial Stone and fight Neji. Then there will be a scene and you will start the next round. Head to Ichiraku, ignoring the green dot which I will cover later, and talk to Iruka. After the scene, you’ll need as many points as you can get. Just look for the red dots and move around the map a lot, and you’ll eventually get them all. See above for possible tips.
Eventually you will run into Anko at the hot spring . Defeat her to unlock her and to get some crystals. After that, you should run into Asuma in the Leaf Village Center. Help him find his checkers to unlock him.
After getting enough crystals, you will fight Kakashi, and the story will end.

Making Friends [UN3_2.2]
~I will not specify the items you need for each character. Buy all the items and just talk to people.~
Talk to the street merchant behind Irchiraku Ramen and buy everything. Now, I will tell you where characters are and where to hang out with them at. You should not have trouble. If said person is not there, leave and re-enter to make a new set of people appear.

Acquiring Jutsu [UN3_2.3]
~~The people who will give you items to help you acquire jutsu will be on the map as large green dots. They should usually be there, but if they are not, you may need to fulfill other objectives first or leave and re-enter the area.~~ 

Super Healing Medicine
Hinata will be standing outside of the General Store. Talk to her to receive a Slot Coin, after which she will run off with Kiba. If she is not there, leave and re-enter. Take this coin to Tanzaku Town (available after beating the story) and enter the Pachinko Parlor. There you’ll find someone who will give you Tsunade’s Medicine. Return to the Leaf Village Center and enter the Shushuya restaurant. Talk to Jiraiya and he will give you Make-Out Strap in return for the medicine. As you would expect, Ebisu is out in front of the Academy, and really wants the strap. Give it to him to receive Vegetable Set. Shikamaru’s dad will be not far from where you currently are, and he needs the vegetables. He’ll give you a Deer Antler, which Hinata needs. She’ll be over by the general store and will give you the jutsu Super Healing Medicine.

Ninja Art: Poison Fog
Go inside the Hokage’s mansion and talk to Shizune. She is looking for a book. As soon as you leave, you will notice a new green dot on your map - examine the ground to find the book. Return it to her.
Tunneling Fang 
After leaving the Hokage’s Mansion, you will have two green dots, and can talk to Kiba or Jiraiya. I will go over Kiba first. He feels down about his weight, and will request a Diet Drink. Visit the street merchant to discover that it is all sold out. Ino is the last one to have bought it, so go pay her a visit. She wants to fight you for the diet medicine. Return to Kiba and receive your jutsu. 

Dynamic Entry
Talk to Guy at the Training Field and do his mini-games. Drop by the street merchant and purchase the rather expensive items Guy wants, and return to him  

Heaven Kick of Pain
Talk to Jiraiya near Shikamaru’s Special Seat. Then talk to Tsunade by the Leaf Village gate.  
Go buy the energy drink from the merchant and talk to Tsunade again. Do the training and get your jutsu. 

Earth Style: Mud Wall
Talk to Konohamaru by Ichiraku Ramen and go to the areas the paper requests.

Sacred Dance Shuriken  
Talk to Tenten at the Hot Spring and talk to the Jonin throughout the Village. She will ask you to get some repair tools from the store. Follow the green dots, and then go talk to her again. She’ll make you play, unfortunately. 

Flying Sparrow Thrust
Talk to Asuma by the river. He’ll talk about dumplings. Go talk to the shopkeeper and bring her ingredients. Then do Sakura’s stupid mini-game. Fight Asuma to learn.

Chidori
Talk to Might Guy and Kakashi and Hidden Leaf Hot Spring. Guy will tell you to do a bunch of stupid mini-games. 

Genjutsu: Haze 
Talk to Lee and Guy at the Training Field and they will head off to train. Kurenai will appear and train you.

Earth Style: Sphere of Graves
Talk to Jiraiya and Tsunade at the Training field. They will reminisce of old times, then Tsunade will go to Hokage’s Mansion. Follow her and talk to her. Tell Shizune to mail letters. Genma needs to file paperwork, while Raido needs to go on patrol. Shizune will have sent the wrong letter, so you need to use Shuriken Mode to knock a bird out of the sky. I suggest going on top of the gate and wildly throwing shuriken in that direction. Grab the letter and talk to Shizune again.

Feather Illusion Jutsu  
Talk to Genma near the center of the village. He will notice a peculiar bird. Use Shuriken Mode as in the last jutsu hunt and kill the bird = ( Go to the Training Fieled after delivering the letter and meet Kabuto. Report to Genma and then go to the Training Field, again. Fight Kabuto and gain the jutsu.  

Water Style: Water Wall
Right after the last jutsu hunt, you will talk to Genma and Raido and they will say that Kabuto was only a decoy. Go fight Kimimaro on top of the gate and then talk to Genma. He will tell you to meet Kakashi at the Training Field. Meet him and learn the jutsu.

Shadow Conceal
After making friends with Asuma, you will receive a Shogi Puzzle Book. Go talk to Shikamaru at his special seat. He’ll ask you to buy items. If you already bought everything from the trader, you will already have them. 

Water Style: Water Dragon Jutsu
~If Sakura does not appear, go make friends with Iruka!!! It‘s mandatory!~

Explosive Destructive Formation
After hanging out with Konohamaru and getting the Secret Scroll, talk to Ebisu by the well and go to the schoolyard to fight Konohamaru. Then go to Training Field, and back to the village. 

Primary Lotus of Love and Youth 
Talk to Lee and Guy at the Training Field and do their mini-games. 

Eternal Rivals 
Talk to Kakashi and Guy inside the village. Find Pakkun. 

Combo Rasengan
Talk to Jiraiya at the Hot Springs. Fight off the Hidden Leaf’s beautiful women (and

Here I will tell you some tips to help you get better. 

Blocking 
Always block whenever an opponent charges or air dashes (X+X), then counter. Inexperienced opponents will always fall for this. Beware of computers and humans that like to grab a lot. If you are pinned down, block and do not substitute until you are grabbed or guard-broken.

Rebound
Pressing X right before hitting the ground will cause you to, instead of hitting your face on the ground, land and jump backwards. It’s a great thing - unless an opponent is preparing to hit you with a jutsu or ultimate as soon as you land. If they aren’t near you and do not have all-range moves (Itachi’s clone bomb, ANBU Kakashi’s Young Fang), it is worth a try, but it is generally unsafe when near an opponent. Choosing not to rebound might make the opponent waste chakra on a jutsu they intended to surprise you with. 


Shuriken Cancelling
My favorite technique that is vital to victories against humans and insane computers, throwing shuriken in the middle of a combo halts the combo and stuns the opponent long enough for you to start a new one. Characters such as Neji and Kimimaro can use this to end matches in seconds, provided the target has no chakra. It’s a great way to pummel opponents and make them waste chakra, and if you do this on a blocking opponent, they will lower their guard, expecting the assault to be over. It takes practice, and placement is vital. Pressing it too early may cause your character to not even attack, while pressing it too late defeats the purpose. Learn which combos and where in the combo to do this for maximum effect.

Kisame on Halloween

For Halloween Kisame would probably be a shark, for obvious reasons. He would have to walk around with his head in a bowl of water all the time so he could breathe, and he could not sit down unless he moved his fins out of the way first. Walking would be undertandably difficult without any legs. He might not be able to talk very well and would need to use sign language with his fins.

Favorite Battleground

I would love to roam freely in the underground river where Kiba fought Sakon. It has been excluded in every Naruto game so far, and I really want it to be available. The stalagmites/stalactites would be interactive, as would the water.
