Interview Tiger

In order to discover just what or who exactly is the Ultimate ninja I Midori have started a quest to uncover the answer by doing a weekly interview of one of the top members of the Hokage’s Room, the closest people to the source of this mystery. I may have to dig underneath the underneath and dodge a kunai and shuriken or two but somehow one truth must prevail.

This week is a little special since I'll be brining you two interviews for the price of one to make up for missing last week.

First I'll be talking to the main man err mod himself TigerC10 today and following that up with another suprise guest tommorow.

Interview Start

1. What is it like being a moderator here at Hokage's room?

Well, it's a lot more work than people think. I get reports almost daily from some very helpful members about the Terms of Use violators and sometimes I have to clean things up for hours at a time. Then I get the occasional user who disagrees with being moderated in some way and I spend a lot of time trying to make sure they understand why they were moderated.

For those of you that want to become a moderator, change your mind now. It's more responcibility/work
than you think and you don't get a lot of rewards for it.

2. What was your favorite mission so far, and what you did for it?

My favorite mission so far has been the handsign mission. Unfortunetly my camera was out of comission until the deadline day, and when I went to submit
it the mission was closed. So I guess I haven't officially done anything. But my handsign is Tiger! :)

3. Out of all the games that the Hokage’s room features, which one is your
favorite and why?

I've really been enjoying Naruto Ultimate Ninja Heroes a lot on my PSP recently. I've always really enjoyed fighting games, and so far my absolute favorite is another Namco game called Soul Calibur 3 - but I'm getting really psyched for Ultimate Ninja 3 and it just might take Soul Calibur's place in my heart as favorite.

4. Which aspect of the Hokage’s room do you enjoy most?

I gotta say that I love the clans. There are clans for everything you could want. Getting a group together that share a common interest is awesome. It's fun to see what the public clans do, especially when the clans give out missions. There are some very creative members.

5. Is their a story behind your user name? Or as Tony says are you simply
"grrr...eat"

Heh. Well I was born in the Chinese year of the tiger, so (ever since I found that out in preschool) the tiger has always been my favorite animal. When I was 9 and a half years old, I got my very first e-mail address. My father set it up for me because the internet was becoming a popular thing. So I tried using the screen name "Tiger". As you would imagine, that name was
already taken.

Next I tried adding the first letter of my last name.
"TigerC". That, too, was taken. So because I was 9.5 years old, I decided to round it up (as most children like to do) and I became "TigerC10". Now, 12 years later, I use that screen name everywhere I go on the internet.

6. What do you think makes for the Ultimate Ninja?

Ultimate ninjas don't boast, they don't proclaim victory prematurely, and they always respect and encourage their fellow ninjas.

7. Anything you’d like to say to your fans before we close?

I have fans? O.o;;
You guys rock!

Got the game

Sorry if you don't hear much from me today. I finally got my copy of Ultimate Ninja 3 this morning after my morning interview and I've been playing the bejebus out of it in order to make up for lost time and to relax.

I've already cleared the ultimate road story mode and am starting to work on the neet rgp mode so that I can unlock as many characters as I can before my friends come over to play the game with me tommorow.

Just a reminder tommorow is Earth hour so be sure to turn your lights and any unnessisary electronics like tvs off from 8pm to 9pm

Now if you'll excuse me I'm going back to play some sweet sweet UN3!

Cursing fate

Arg I SHOULD have had UN3 in my hands by now but becuse my mom had to stay late at work my idiot dad screwed things up for me. I knew that his van was in the shop but he had it back by 7pm and could have picked me up but instead was waiting to hear from mom thinking she might go straight from work to pick me up.

At the very least he darn well could have gone and picked up my copy of the game for me since it's my late easter present but noooo I have to suffer and wait for it just a bit longer.

Thanks to the fact I have an interview early in the morning tommorow I might not get my hands on the game until closer to noon which means I might not get mission 15 done as quickly as I'd like. The sooner the better is my philosiphy since that helps me stay ontop of the rankings.

I don't mind falling behind a level temporarily sometimes becuse that's life for you but I don't intentend to stay behind for long. My dad might not understand why I care so much about this site, but I haven't put so much time and effort into it only to screw it up now by not getting a mission done.

No Shortcuts

Ninja tactics 101

From now on sometimes I will pass on secret knowlage on how to be a great ninja. If you guys pay attention, the things I will teach you can help in more then just this site but school as well.

My first lesson is about Shortcuts.

Lately alot of people have been asking me "Midori is their any way I can get alot of ryo quickly and be rich like you"

So let me tell you the truth. Their aren't any short cuts to getting rich quick here. No magical lottery that's going to make you rich in an instant. I didn't get rich overnight I earned it thought hard work and dedication.

Even the bonus 50,000 was more then earned from particapating in the link sending contest. Eveyone was equally able to earn that if they wanted to, some just didn't bother to take the effort needed to aquire it.

If you want gain ryo, if you want to gain ranks then simply do what I did and earn them. Do the missions and don't sit around waiting for someone to do them for you. It's just like with my assigments at school, I get em done as quickly and accurately as possible instead of leaving everything to the last minute.

If you're given an assigment at school don't try and take a shortcut by cheating. All your doing is selling youself short since you won't learn anything and have trouble passing any tests covering that material, not to mention you risk getting into lots of trouble by doing that.

I rarely have to spend extra time studying simply since I do my assigments and If I can do those then I know most of what I need to know to pass any quiz or test my teachers can decided to give me.

Now in real life I know that things like a lottery exist but you have a better chance of being struck by lightining then winning one of those. If you want to become better, and earn money 99% of the time you're better of earning it yourself.

Their's no use waiting around for a miracle 1% chance to happen. It's just wasting time that could have been better spent improving your postion.

Anyhow to summerize today's lesson like Naruto once said. "Their are no shortcuts to becoming Hokage." And just like their are no shortcuts to becoming hokage their are no shortcuts to this site. Hard work and dedication are all that is nessiasary to succed here.

Lost the war

Arg I worked so hard to win that link clicking contest and yet somehow I still managed to only get third place even thought I had over 561 link clicks in total.

Darn this sucks since with my current finacial situation I really really could have used that free subscription to Shonen jump. I've been subscribed ever since it started so I'd hate to lose my subscription now due to how expensive collage is.

If you're wondering why I didn't post in my blog for the last couple day's it was becuse it was easter so I was kind of busy eating with my family and stuff. I landed a job intervew on Friday and applied for another job in my hometown today so at least now I've got a couple options still open.

I have to get one of these 2 jobs or I'm really screwed since I won't be able to come up with the $6000 I still need to cover tuition and residence for next year, let alone have any spending money at all.

The only good news is that thought a fluke of luck I'm back to being the richest ninja on the site, a satus I haven't enjoyed since last november when I bought a few rewards thinking the site was going to close the next day.

Well I'm not one of the sites hardest working ninja for nothing, so with any luck having the most ryo will bring me the last badge that I'm missing since it would be neat to have all 5.

I just wish I could translate the type of success I have at this site into real life. I mean what does it matter how much ryo I have here when I barely have a dollar to my name in the real world?

I couldn't luck out and win a copy of Ultimate ninja 3 so I'm going to have to wait until thursday to get it on the way home from residence after my classes are finished for the week. In anticpatation for a future mission I'm going to take my picture with it since being prepaired is half the battle.

Bootlegs

Bootlegs are bad, and you shouldn't buy them since doing so helps put money into the wrong hands and dosn't support the industry which we love.

If you want to see more anime released in this country, buy the DVDs. If you can't afford the DVDs, then stick to the television broadcasts.

Having worked for an actual anime/managa retailer and as secruty/volunter at an anime convention (Anime north) before I have been trained in how to spot bootlegs.

Now I shall pass that knowlage onto you so that you know how to avoid them from now on.

How to spot a bootleg

1. An anime DVD produced in either Taiwan or Hong Kong should be your first tip-off. I am sure that there are legitimate video companies in these countries. however, thanks to lax copyright laws in these countries, most "professional" looking bootlegs generally come either Taiwan or Hong Kong. Therefore, seeing "imported from Hong Kong" or "imported from Taiwan" should at the very least put you on your guard.

2. Anime bootlegs will invariably be subtitled in both English and Chinese or Japanse. They might also include an English dub. But the important thing to notice are the English and Chinese/Japanse subtitles in conjunction. Most (but not all) legitimate companies do not release anime with both Chinese and English subtitles. This is one of the surest signs of a bootleg.

3.Bootlegs are almost always no region/all region - or in other words, they can be played on any DVD player. Once again, this is something that is almost universally not true for legitimate releases. There's one obscure Korean release of an anime that was all region, but so far that's the only one I've ever heard of. If the disk you're about to buy is all region, beware.

4. The bootlegged disks will be incredibly cheap, especially when compared to the prices of legitimate disks. Full bootlegged series usually run for far cheaper than a legitimate company could get away with, because it costs money to author the disks, buy the necessary licenses, etc. Since bootleggers sidestep the expensive legal issues, they can afford to sell their disks for very cheaply. Remember: if the price looks too good to be true, it probably is.

5. Most of the time, the bootlegged product will include fewer disks than the legit version. There simply aren't any legitimate companies that will put 8-9 episodes of a series on one disk. Most real release are between 3 to 5 episodes per disk, There are some exceptions to this rule; for example, I've seen bootlegs of Slayers that were on just as many disks as the legitimate version; so how many disks the video is on will not necessarily help you, but it's a good secondary indicator.

6. The following companys are known bootleggers

  • Animation International
  • Animation Japan International
  • Anime Cartoon
  • Anime Cartoon International
  • Anime Studio
  • Another DVD Company
  • Digital International
  • DVD Ani
  • fx
  • Indian International
  • K
  • MAC (Manga Anime Cartoon)
  • Manga International
  • Video Animation

    Misary

Sigh sadly I wasn't the first person to find the hidden egg yesterday so I didn't win a copy of Ultimate Ninja 3 that way. Rigth now given my current finical sitation and how my luck has been going with finding a co-op job and just how I've been feeling in general lately it would have been nice for something good to have happened for once in a very long while.

Last night I went to Ebgames to pick up my copy of the Metal Gear Solid essential collection and was very annoyed and dismayed to find that they didn't have it in stock yet.

I had preordered it, and it had shipped on the 18th. They had 2 days to get it in and didn't. Now if this had been a normal week I would have let it go as I would have likely been able to pick it up on friday but the fact that it's GOOD FRIDAY and everything is closed for the long weekend meant that it deprived me of the one thing I had to look forward too this entire long weekend.

Their service their was woefully inadiquit as they had 2 people at the front desk, one helping a customer and the other doing basically nothing, but the second guy couldn't be bothered to help me for a full 10 minutus seriosuly *ing me off.

If that's the level of service I can expect to get at that location then I'm * well not going to bother shopping their anymore since as a smart consumer I expect far better treatment.

Right now... I'm misrable, I didnt' get the job I want, the places I've interviewed at can't be bothered to take the time to follow up with me, I'm having a hard time with my lan class, I'm having trouble sleeping, am nearly broke, didn't get the game I wanted and am just feeling rotten in general.

My parents went up to north bay to visit my sister leaving me alone for the longweekend at home....well at least it's better then staying at residence and less boring then going with them since where they are going is basically a one horse town with nothing to occupy my intrest.

My uncle wanted to invite me over for dinner tonight but I lied and said politely that I had other plans since I really didn't want to eat perogies right now and I really just wanted to be alone today.

I phoned my friends to try and set up a party tommorow where we would play smash bros together but that plan fell apart quickly since they most of them have to work so their wouldn't be enough people to call it a party... After a few calls I just gave up in frustration.

Being busy adults sucks sometimes, especially since it's hard to corrdinate anything with your friends. Some of them I'm lucky to see once every few months when we used to hang out almost every day when we where yonger and it makes me very sad that we've drifted apart like this.

Of course I had to miss out on the Ryo bonanza as well. Not that their's anything  I actually want to use my ryo on at the moment making it essentially worthless but still it's one thing I can take a small amount of pride and a mark of how dedicated to the site I am to have if nothing else.

Maybe the Hokage could add a Psp or a Ps3 to the prize list, I'd sure like to have one of those and can't possibly afford one at the moment so it'd be nice. Hey if they can afford to give out a comic con plane trip a game system is penuts in comparison.

Right now I don't even feel like getting out of bed, I'm still in my pajamasa and barely ate a small late lunch of left over chicken wings and noodles and I doubt I'll eat much for dinner either.

I've got to say I've never really been much of a faith person. At least no in religion, but I tried praying the other day to get that job becuse I was ready to belive in something but it was to no avail.

How can I belive in something like god when all my life is rain? I'm a good person, who works hard and helps others and yet  almost nothing ever seems to come of it. Rather I seem to end up getting the short end of the stick most of the time.

I'm sick of the rain in my life and long for the sunshine but will it ever come to me?

    Chunin

Welp today I was able to reach the rank of Chunin for a second time, truely a momentus occasion. I'm sure that with hard word and dedication, alot of my fellow ninja and friends on this site will quickly follow and catch up with me before we know it!

If only real life where as simple as the Hokage room. Right now I'm sick of the people who say "we'll get back to you on such and such a date" and never do. Is it that friggen hard to tell somebody they didn't get the job? Don't they realize the wait to find out if you got it or not is 100% more aggonizing then finding out you didn't get it?

I'd rather be put out of my misory then to keep having to suffer like I am. Even now I still hold out a tiny hope for that one job becuse it has't technically been filled but they don't even have the balls to tell me that it's unlikely at this point I'll get it despite the fact they PROMISED to me they would get back to me days ago.

Screw people who can't keep their word. A promise is a promise and once given it should not be taken back lightly. I understand that not all promises can be keep but if at least you try your best to keep it then it's ok.

Other company I had an interview with on monday promissed to get back to me today and so far I haven't heard a peep. This has me seething with rage becuse these stupid people can't even do something as basic and simple as keeping their word.

How the frick can you even operate as a company if people can't trust you to keep your word? And yet people do this to me all the time, like the time Futureshop screwed me over and cost me a week I could have been working at Tim hortons by not keeping their word and getting back to me.

It seems if you aren't the one for the job then you aren't worth their time anymore, but if they took the time to interview you then they should man up and take responsibilty to following up. They owe me at least that much for the time I put into this applying for the job and getting ready for the interview and such.

Sometimes this twisted world makes me sick, but their is little I can do to change it. I simply don't have the power...or the money to make much of a differnce.

The worst thing is how this stress is effecting me... especially my sleep. Some nights I almost don't sleep at all and then sleep a bit during the day instead but last night I didn't sleep at all. I'm not sure how I'm even still functioning right now thought  I certantly shouldn't be.

Trying to do my homework is very difficult right now. I got most of an Accel assgiment done but their is a problem with the second part that I simply can't fix with out the teacher so I'm up a chreek with out a paddle for the moment on that one.

I'm too tired to bother doing the company newsletter assignement for my customer service class that isn't due until next thursday at the moment so as long as I get my mostly easy Lan assigment done I will TRY to rest easy for the weekend at least if nothing else.

Luckily my parents are going up to north bay to visit my sister at her university so prehaps I will be able to get my much needed sleep after all as they don't understand one bit about why I am sleeping in to 3pm in the afternoon after not falling asleep until something like 5am or later.

Sigh... Life is never easy, but at least I'm strong enough to live it.
