It was what should have been a simple quite afternoon for Midori as she soared through a cloud filled sky, her mind absently drifting as she neared her required destination. It many ways the mission she had been given was far from simple, and while it was quite at the time being she knew from past experience that such tranquility wouldn’t last for much longer, not when she had been called upon anyway.

She was a Kunoichi and an assassin, by far one of the deadliest member of her village and at the top of the black ops corp. Her missions were usually top secret and off the records. It was all unofficial so that if she screwed up and failed to off an important target then blame would rest solely on her if she was caught, sparing her village from public wrath and disgrace.

But the thing was she didn’t screw up, and when she did her job her targets corpses would inevitably hit the floor and anyone foolish enough to stand in her way would also share a similar grisly fate.

She had not been a chunnin for long, only having been trusted with these types of missions after her preference in the cell wars and the promotion it had granted her. Already she had racked up a body count that would make the worst cereal killers in recorded history blush with envy.

Now it was time to add another notch to her belt as it where as she hovered hundreds of feet above an ever growing crowd of civilians who had gathered to see the prestigious Lord Tenko give a speech. A speech that would settle a long standing war in that region, a war certain powerful people didn’t want to end.

Personally to Midori it didn’t matter to her one way or the next if Lord Tenko lived or died. Peace was an abstract concept for someone who lived a life of bloodshed such as herself. To her the only thing that truly mattered was if she got the money she needed to put food on her table that night and for many nights to come, something that would not happen if she did not complete her mission.

The world was a cruel place. One could either eat or be eaten and as far as she was concerned she was far better off as a predator then as one of the many prey she regularly hunted.

Just as the man began to give his speech she struck. With a flick of her wrist a kunai flew thought the air and with the suddenness of a blot of lightning imbedded itself right between his eyes killing him instantly.

For a brief second a shocked silence overcame the crowd and as realization of what had happened kicked in somebody screamed and they all began to panic. Midori watched expressionlessly as a group Shinobi bodyguards seemed to materialize out of thin air around the Lord’s slumped body but it was far to late for them to do anything for the man.

The guards scanned the area, gazing from one rooftop to the next in a fruitless attempt to locate her not realizing that they would have to look higher still to spot her. She allowed herself a rare slight smirk at their incompetence. The fact people rarely bothered to look up was perhaps one of the most overlooked advantages of her bloodline in her clan. An advantage she ruthlessly had used many a time to accomplish her goals.

She waited a moment longer and was rewarded for her patience as one of the guards pulled the Kunai from the lord’s head only to gasp in horror as hidden seal she had placed on the weapon was activated by his foreign touch causing it to burst into a highly corrosive acid that dissolved his hand almost instantaneously.

Midori sighed glad that she had confirmed the disposal of all evidence of her involvement in this matter as would be expected of a professional such as herself. As much as she wanted to be know as the winged angel of death she knew her missions would be far easier as long as her existence remained in the shadows, unknown to most of the world.

With her mission compete and one more soul reaped she turned and flew off back towards her village. She had a report to make to her kage and preparations to make for her next mission for the day was still young and their was still yet more death to be had that night.

As she flew off she was just like a knife that never remembered the face of the person she had just killed. With her hands constantly stained with blood, in many ways she was more a living weapon then a human being, a tool of demise colored Crimson Steel.
