Topic : PS3 Backwards Compatability

Forum Search Tips Close

Basics

  1. Search syntax is similar to Google searches.
  2. Words shorter than 4 characters are ignored.
  3. Searches are NOT case-sensitive.
  4. Automatic 'and' queries: The search will only return pages that include all of your search terms.
  5. Only the body of the post is searched by default. Use the Advanced search to also search by subject.
  6. Word variation/stemming is currently not supported. For example, if you search for acting or acted, the search will not return results for act.

Phrase Searches

Sometimes you'll only want results that include an exact phrase. In this case, simply put quotation marks around your search terms. E.g. "cool video games"

Negative Terms

If your search term has more than one meaning (bass, for example, could refer to fishing or music) you can focus your search by putting a minus sign ("-") in front of words related to the meaning you want to avoid. For example, here's how you'd find pages about bass-heavy lakes, but not bass-heavy music: bass -music

So Naruto: Ultimate Ninja 4 - Shippuden is finally coming to the United States!  You've got a shiny new Playstation 3 and you probably want to know if you can play the game before you buy it.  Well there are only 3 models of the PS3 that can play PS2 games, and here they are:

    • 20GB Playstation 3, model number CECHB01
    • 60GB Playstation 3, model number CECHA01
    • 80GB Playstation 3, model number CECHE01
(there are multiple model numbers of PS3s with 80GB - verify the number)

If you have one of these model numbers, you can check to see if it can play Ultimate Ninja 4 at this website:

    http://www.us.playstation.com/Support/CompatibleStatus

If you don't have one of those 3 models, you're out of luck.  Sony has stopped making Playstation 3s that can play PS2 games.  Sorry my friends! Frown But the good news is that the Playstation 2 has come down in price to about $60 (fat PS2) or $70 (slim PS2), so if you desperately want to play this game (as well as the excellent predecessors Ultimate Ninjas 1-3) you can get a PS2.

Wrote something in my blog about this.
I'm pretty ticked, they release storm, getting us geared up for the new era, then.. Bam, right to PS2, after most people get rid of theirs. Not cool HR, not cool Frown

I guess I'll have to dig around for my old PS2..  Bleh.

I wouldn't expect them to recreate the game just to format it for the PS3. That would delay its release for possibly another year, and I'd rather just use my PS2 or get a new PS3.

I don't think anyone was talking about reformatting the game in this thread...  I was simply talking about the PS3's ability to play PS2 games.

She wasn't talking about re-formatting the game for the PS3 either.  She said she was going to have to dig around for her old PS2 to play the game.

@Mendark13 - The question is, do you have the correct model number.  There are 3 different model numbers for the 80GB PS3.
